Anti-Gun Group to Launch Nationwide Boycott of Starbucks

-- The National Gun Victim’s Action Council (NGAC) will lead a national boycott of Starbucks Coffee products on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, to try to change the company’s “open carry” gun policy at its locations. Starbucks currently allows guns to be openly carried by patrons in its stores in the states where it is legal to do so.
“Starbucks allowing guns to be carried in thousands of their stores significantly increases everyone's risk of being a victim of gun violence," said Elliot Fineman, CEO of the NGAC in a statement.
The NGAC says that its boycott will, “90% of the time,” reduce Starbucks stock price.
Thanks Baba, you just gave me a reason to like Starbucks. I might have to go there on Feb 14th just to help boost sales.

The banning of guns within any distance of schools only assures that a criminal can reasonably calculate how long they have to do anything they want without fear of being stopped.

Ah, yes. The so-called "gun free zone". Guranteed to give ignorant, anti-gun liberals that warm, fuzzy feeling of safety. Unfortunately, the only one who is actually "safe" is the would-be mass murderer who has just been provided a convenient, clearly designated pool of unarmed and helpless victims that he can kill with no fear of resistance. It is worth noting that Columbine High School, Thurston High School and Virginia Tech were all "gun free zones" when the massacres occured there. This may come as a shock to Rosie O'Donnel types, but murderers oftentimes dont obey laws banning guns. I wish they would at least be honest and call them what they really are, which is "unarmed helpless victim zones." I guess the truth hurts too much.

They would but the words are too big for us ignorant, anti-gun liberals. We like one syllable words like "gun", "free" and "zone" And "life". Dave.

Unless someone who actually has a gun illegally decides to come in and take matters into their own hands... they know everyone is unarmed

There isnt anything wrong with those particular words, as long as you combine them with words like "fantasy", "delusion" "naive" and "wishful thinking". One-syllable words are nice and safe and easy to pronounce, but in the real world sometimes you have to think beyond single syllable buzzwords and catch phrases.

And, BTW, I dont consider you to be "anti-gun". You have valid personal reasons for not choosing to own one yourself, but I havent heard you advocating against my right to own one.

I'll be having my Valentine's coffee at Starbucks !!!

There is some debate among the pro-gun community over the wisdom of having "open carry" events at places like Starbucks that are simply trying to remain neutral and avoid being drawn into controversy.

While I support the right of individuals to open carry if they wish, it is not a choice I would ever make. I dont think it accomplishes anything politically, and its a good way to frighten people and wind up being proned out on the pavement at gunpoint by nervous police. I have no desire to draw attention to myself in such a manner.

I know I'm going to catch hell from certain people for posting this but listen up................................ I DON'T CARE.

Some words to the wise. Shooting Advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it:
A; Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.
B; It’s always better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6.
C; Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.
D; Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arm’s length.
E; Never say "I’ve got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off.
friend; The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes, the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.
G; The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - cheat if necessary.
H; Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets . . . You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, cause it'll be empty.
I; If you’re in a gun fight:
1/ If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
2/ If you're not loading, you should be movin’.
3/ If you're not movin', you're dead.
J; In a life and death situation, do something . . . It may be wrong, but do something!
K; If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
L; You can say 'stop' or 'alto' or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language.
M; You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.

dill,

I believe it is good advice.

Something I would add --be angry instead of scared. This has to be a learned trait and must be rehearsed over and over in your mind.

Many people in a "BAD" situation freeze up --like a deer in the headlights. If someone is breaking into your home ---get angry.

In most situations in life anger is a curse------If your life is in danger it is a blessing !!

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not but in my thinking, it would seem that getting angry would help control the adrenaline rush. Help keep one focused. :dont_know:
