Huge layoffs are happening to 22.4s

Very true. The most senior driver in our building drives an early 90s station wagon. At least treat yourself to a vehicle from the 2010s.
One of our drivers (with 30 years) just bought himself a new to him (slightly used) Benz after driving around in his mid 90's Honda Civic. Every snow storm see him chugging in with that little rusted out thing. It was so painful to leave the same time as him and watch that thing try to accelerate. We made fun of him, but I bet he's going to have a comfortable retirement.

I have a 2014 Silverado LTS V8 with over 100K miles that still runs like new because I’m the sole owner with regular checkups. This is the exception, not the rule.

Is that the 5.3 that suffers from "piston slap" ?

I have a 2003 Silverado SS with a 6 L that I’ve owned since 2005 doesn’t even have 100,000 miles on it, love it
Ford sucks. Wife has a 2019 LS Tahoe with 80K miles. The battery is all I’ve had to change. V8’s are good for 300K as long as you keep up. That’s all I’m saying. That Escort might get you 150 before it starts breaking down.

I bought a 2018 Kia Rio with 79K miles on it. Because it was under 80K was able to get full warranty on it still. Paid just over 10K for it in cash. In almost 2 years had to use the warranty just once for a faulty sensor. Works just fine to get me to and from work.

Every day except Mondays we have at least a dozen drivers volunteering to take a day off, I counted 16 yesterday plus 4 call ins. I’ve been taking one day off a week so a 22.4 can get some work, most RPCD’s have been doing the same. Volume has been very light. Layoffs are inevitable here. Hopefully things will pick up in the summer. I think most drivers will be back by prime week.
22.4s aren't getting layed off. They can still work inside of the building making the same amount.

300k homes would be a bargain in my area. Right now to get into a decent home it’s at least 500k.
A top paid driver can afford a 400-450k home if the interests rate can go down. I bought mine at $21/h no debt and a 3.125 interest rate. This was a 250k home. Before the pandemic and rates went out of hand.

Should you purchase that amount by yourself? No. But rent is so ridiculous that honestly it’s the best option.

Not that I’ve noticed. She still runs like new. But yes, it’s a 5.3L.

Unless someone works their magic in a later panel it will be inside wages and the only way to make them pay up is by working both shifts with seniority which is easily 10 to 12 hours and then exercising anything beneficial in your local layoff, scheduling, recall language and especially file for seniority, supes working, misclassification.

Not one 22.4 is making their part time wage when working inside. They make the same because their classification states they are inside and driver. Also what 2 shifts combined would be 10 hours?

A 300k home here gets you some black mold and all the radon you can handle.

Also the 90's Civic is the exact counterpoint to planned obsolescence. Those cars were tanks. The GOAT in my opinion in terms of reliability.

So what did you get in replacement

My Pilot had 300K+ before I got rid of it. Still running.
Mines an 03 pilot and only major thing I did was I rebuilt the transmission at 198k. Never had any major problem with it that was annoying or couldn’t figure out.
