Incident at Hub

I WILL NEVER KNOWINGLY HARM A FELLOW MEMBER.

This statement is more true for the Teamster that backed into and caused the accident, than the Teamster who reported the accident. I'm not losing my wife and kids medical benefits or my pension because this maroon couldn't drive. Sorry.
I didn't do it nor did I see anything
The only problem the OP has is, that he is new.

I didn't break my window, so prove it
.I will never give these POS ANY ammo against a fellow employee .

I've seen too many good ones walked out

He was new and afraid, I guess.

The rest of us know that you aren't going to get fired over it.

It's truly hard to be honest here sometimes.
It really is.

They over-scrutinize every little thing to the point that I'm not exactly surprised people are afraid to be honest.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Does that make it right?

Tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may.

There was no damage to the mirror bracket. Smack him on the pee pee, replace the glass and move on.

You live in the BOG.

In my neck of the woods the driver who broke the window and mirror and did not report will be fired. It will be a case of dishonesty and he will probably not be coming back, period. You are not fired for breaking the mirror; you are fired for not reporting it.

So if the driver who posted this thread has any doubt about what he witnessed he should make that clear to management. Perhaps he did not see the truck actually strike the mirror, only heard a noise and noticed the broken mirror.

I tell management, they decide how to classify it.

Best to tell the center manager rather than an on-car; BTW. They have a greater stake in not calling it an accident, and you are only dealing with one management person.

I'm wondering why no one has asked the OP to confront driver and tell him/her to report it or else OP would have no choice.

The company will put this as an accident on the OP. Of course the OP has to report the damage or else they can be terminated. In my hub it is considered a cardinal sin to cause damage and not report it.

Like another poster mentioned, they did not care about you. I'm sure you have a family to support.

Report it.( after giving the culprit a chance to turn themselves in )

That's what I said I'd do on the previous page. Give the other driver a chance to come forward, report it yourself if they absolutely refuse. Maybe get the opinion of a steward somewhere in between.

I was standing there in the cab when it happened

That is unfortunate for the other driver.
You did what you had to once you did not talk to the other driver, which would have been the best option...Let him report it.

At this point you should not tell anyone else about the accident. You should not bring it up with management or any other person. If the Center Manager does not want an accident in the center recorded you should keep quiet. It is not lying. You did what you were supposed to. It is now up to management to handle it.
