Well for one operating a phone and driving is illegal in my state now. Don't know about you but that in itself is a problem vs. the methods we were told to use.

Hands free is illegal?

If so, make the call to set up a meet point before you start to drive.

Your GPS is also legal and should give you audible turn by turn directions.

Or use a map before you leave.

Telling me it is unsafe to shuttle packages to drivers, get real.

It's not hands free. My "GPS" is my phone. I have to make multiple stops with multiple drivers at very specific times. You drive? I'm sure you don't have time to wait around for some kid to bring you a box or 2. A map????? Hahahaha ok geezer. I don't think I even know a person with a map.

Boy I hope you don't have any aspirations of driving.

OK. Your phone gives you audible turn by turn directions.

Meet the first driver. Call the next and see where he wants to meet. Plug into your phone and go.

Repeat.

I'm sure you don't have time to wait around for some kid to bring you a box or 2.

Part of the job.

A map????? Hahahaha ok geezer. I don't think I even know a person with a map.

Hope your phone never breaks.

Even in school, we have calculators. But we still learn math by adding and subtracting on a piece of paper first.

I know, you guys would be lost without your phone.

Oh my. Turn by turn audible directions are delayed trash. Even if I call the driver before hand I'm still operating my phone for the gps (since like I said, the TBT Audible sucks). "Part of the job" yeah. right. Till you show up at a designated spot and the driver already took off because they don't have time to wait all day. I'm not going to go purchase an atlas just to drop boxes to drivers. Don't get paid enough for that. I'm not saying it's difficult, it's not. I'm just saying it's not efficient or "safe" by COMPANY standards. I personally couldn't care less about using my GPS and driving.

The directions are fine. The voice over for the turn by turn is slow.

So you're saying the Company is two-faced?

And how long did it take you to come to this revelation?

Congratulations.

Most people figure this out within the first month.

Doesn't matter. I know when something doesn't seem right.

UPS allows it, the union allows it and the law allows it.

You just posted your opinion, which I don't have a problem with you expressing your opinion.

The problem is that you have been posting your opinion as fact, until you finally realized that this practice is allowed.

Well according to that language he was an air exception driver that day, which starts his progression. So he'll be at the air driver top rate in 2 years when he's 21 and can bid the position. Sounds like a win for him.

Nope.

Article 40 Section 6

Part-time employees who are awarded a scheduled part time air
driver job shall receive progression credit in accordance with the
following: for each four (4) days on which exception air work was
performed in the two (2) years immediately prior to the bid award,
one (1) month of progression credit shall be granted. In addition, if
a bid part-time air driver is displaced, he/she will retain his/her progression
credit under paragraph (a.) for any air exception work.
