America spends 50% of the world’s military budget. We are the only country with enough resources to prevent the rise of Islamist caliphates around the world. It’s easy to say that’s not our problem, but when they plot massive terror attacks on American soil and promise jihad against the west it becomes our problem.

One of the most dishonest argument I see is that’s thousands of miles away why should America be involved?

Yes Osama Bin Ladin was thousands of miles away as well when plotting 9/11.

We have a massive volunteer army. They sign up to fight for america’s interest. America has a strong interest in “policing” the Middle East and not letting the terror cells go unchecked.

First off "My personal Vietnam...."......really? Second, are we in every Muslim country? There are Muslims who lived in Western Europe who fought for ISIS. From the U.S. even. Muslims in Malaysia and Indonesia who've committed terrorist acts against Westerners. Are you going to play jihadist whack-a-mole all over the world? Where are our troops in those countries? We went into Syria because Assad was willing to use chemical weapons against civilians. And because of ISIS. If we have accomplished our goals we should get out. The U.S. still has troops stationed around the world as well as the world's premier navy and air force. We can project power where needed quickly. What I think you want is to see us inflict pain on civilian populations who don't want us in their countries. Grow up already.

Turkey is pretty much the big thug in the region. The Kurds can be helpful at times but they are no saints either. The Kurd group in Turkey is pro communist radicals that the Turks have been fighting for generations. The Kurds in Syria are related but different people. I agree its wrong to screw over the Kurds but its not a situation we really should have been involved in to start with. I don't like the Turks but they can probably provide stability to the area. Seems like a situation with no right answers.
