nobody knew a damn thing about this holiday until trump scheduled a rally on that day. Suddenly its to be a national holiday. Not because it should be holiday but to legitimize the feigned butthurt over trump having his rally on this day.

Suddenly the liberals want a holiday celebrating the republicans freeing the slaves. you cant make this :censored2: up

It was a national holiday. There is no Native American holiday, although there should be. Ttku...

it was . I can't fix all wrongs on holidays i think we have too many of them . the taxpayers lose a lot of money and the country a lot of productivity every time we decide somebody needs a holiday. I'm fine with the big ones that benefit most people

Juneteenth is right there with the 4th of July and Christmas.

I have to disagree on this one ... there is no more important reason than 'cost money and productivity '.

I'm not sure it costs all that much.
There appears to be an underlying assumption that it will be a paid holiday.
It can be a National Holiday without giving the day off paid.
It could be switched for MLK day as a Federal Paid holiday.

Haven't been on this site for a few weeks, didn't plan on posting but could not pass on this.

For all crackers and anti-negro on this site (you know yourselves) it should be a national holiday.
One man's (my) opinion.

It would memorialize what our founders envisioned, as stated in the Declaration, but were unable to deliver at the time to form our great nation.

The slavery disconnect with our Declaration of Independence,

" We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

would be rectified at an uncertain, future date.

Abraham Lincoln, presided over a war, precipitated by various contentions, slavery being one, and the outcome cemented the cornerstone of our Declaration to the British Crown.

A Federal Holiday, Emancipation Day, is an honor to our Founders that believed their
declaration :

" We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness".

Emancipation Day as a holiday is honoring the Emancipators, not the Emancipated.

I'm a proud Southerner, could add more but it is not noteworthy, and don't want it to be viewed as the object of my support, as it's not.

For you crackers, consider it getting Lincoln's birthday back, on his merit, not an act of birth.

to black america which is fine. you and yours should celebrate it just like the mexicans celebrate cinco de mayo.

in this case you want to make a holiday no one knew of a national holiday overnight.

government is already unproductive and you want to give them another paid day off at taxpayer expense. I'll go a step further take away columbus day and presidents day.

we dont need more holidays just to appease 12 percent of the population.

Guess what if we ever get serious about balancing the budget , eliminating these paid holidays for federal workers will have to be on the list.

I'm sorry i have to disagree here. You wont be allowed to appease the blacks by giving them a national holiday without being a paid day off , that will just start another round of racist charges and comparisons. nothing in todays world with race is anything but an overindulgence of race appeasement for a minority of our population.

I think we ought to go the other way and eliminate not add to the holiday list. There is nothing wrong with recognizing these days without paying someone to sit on their rear end.

you're making a cracker comment because someone disagree's. I think we actually agree eliminate the excess holidays.

We are in a state of heightened race appeasement right now. During this phase any incident where a white police officer shoots a black person who resisted arrest is an excuse to burn somones or multiple someones livelyhood.

Its an act of outrage because the modern day plantation owner tells black america that the reason that death happened is because that white officer killed that black man only because he is black and diminishs the violent act of resistance that took place.

the outrage takes place because that plantation owner the democratic party has kept black america in poverty stricken areas and given them no hope of a better life and constantly told black america that the reason they live like that is because white people hate them.

And now to appease black america and show them the benevolence of the white liberal plantation owner we are supposed to give black america another holiday. yes master is going to give you another holiday to enjoy sitting in the slum we created for you.

Quit electing Republican administrations that jack up the deficit any time they are in office and we'd have plenty of money

What do you think it would cost to make it a federal holiday?
The governments toilet paper budget for two weeks?
If making it a federal holiday is what pushes the American government over the edge after all this :censored2: we've been through. I will give you both a verbal and written apology
