This whole voting process is starting to become real fishy!!!! Many people are not getting ballots or recieving them very late. And to reorder them has proved very elusive.

Funny, I was approached my management a week or two ago. I was asked "How do you feel about the new contract"
I said "looks good to me" as I don't feel it is their business.
He then asked "did you get your ballot?"

I wonder if I had said "I don’t like the contract" if he would of still be interested if I got a ballot.

I will say, I have had NO problems with anyone at UPS....sups...managers and the like. Everyone has treated me real with respect. I have no problems with them at all. I actually like the team at my center.

i agree with the part-timers not getting there ballots, i know of 2 just in my area, they have both been there over 5 years, they both receive other ups mail at there homes, but no ballots. one of them is a known trouble maker for management, and the other guy could be also, so who knows.

i called and requested mine, it came firday. By the time i looked it over and voted, it was to late to catch the post man on saturday. monday being a holiday and no mail. so i sent it out Tue. No that only give it 3 days to make it there. Why do they take a year and a half to work out this contract and they want us to pass it in 30 days?

Yes i am a p-timer, and yes i have cause problems in the past. I hope thats not the reason why i didn't recive my ballot.

The Teamsters mail out the ballots, not UPS. They ought to check with their local if their address is updated ( that is if they are Union members).

Let me be devils advocate. Do you think you treated them with respect when you lied to them about the contract.

You could have said "I don't mean any disrespect but i really don't think that is any of your business"
Or you could have told them that you were still thinking about it. Or you could have told them that you didn't like it for whatever reasons.

The worst thing that would have happened here is you might have gotten into a dialogue with those people who you say have treated you with respect about why they feel it might be a good deal for you.

It does not hurt to expose yourself to both perspectives.

Next question did you attend your contract review at your local union hall and listen to your representatives explain why they agreed to this offer?

Say Tie, your reply is under the assumption that his management crew is straight up and will respect his opinion without repercussions... Not everyone walks and talks the same game plan as you...sometimes exposure does hurt

...nice point though about going to to the hall and listening

Could it be that the P-Ters are not getting their ballots because they don't like the offer?:smart:

Hey tie, Not sure what is up your who who for me, but I have never had a problem with you. Not sure why you feel the need to give me a bad rep? 2nd, did I say I lied? Do you know how I voted? I do not feel comfortable telling, you.....them.....anyone here, how I voted. perhaps I could of started a conversation and got into a dialog about how I feel about the contract when we are just entering peak and I have a ton of packages coming at me and the guy next to me called out sick and I'm are trying to load 1-2 of his 3 car load plus my 3 cars, I think discussing my opinion on a contract with a boss while packages back up and my PPH drops to 2 is not wise for me or UPS. I will say that the union is out for themselves. UPS is out to make as much money for the company. I am out to make as much money as I can. We can all sit here and sing koom-ba-ya, and pretend we are all there for each other, but reality is we are all there for the same reason...to make money for our best interest. So I would appreciate it if you stayed off my case, especially considering I have never had anything negative to say to you.
Oh,.......did I make it to the meeting.......I tried. But being that I have 2 other jobs and work 80hrs a week at MINIMUM, I couldn't make it to the meeting. Trust me when I say I would of loved nothing better.
One more thought/comment…..I do see all perspectives. I am not entirely right, just as either is the union or UPS. We all have our own interest at stake.

The Teamsters droped a package car on Tie guy's brother and he's never been the same since.

I'm from the west coast. About 2 out of every 5 I have asked have received a ballot. However, only 2 out of 10 part-timers I asked have received a ballot. My ballot was late getting to me. If this contract passes by a landslide I'd say a lot of no voters didn't get their ballots and there should be an investigation.

This may seem obvious but I assume all theses PT'ers you folks claim to talk to are actually Teamsters and qualified to get a ballot, yes?

the ones i have talked to are, they even get there teaster mail sent to them , just not the ballots.

That's good to know... I asked because, in my area, the difference between the number of PT'ers who moan and complain vs the ones that are actually Teamsters and use their vote is staggering.

Good to know it's better where you are :)
