Lunch Runners

Why is it so hard for people to understand?

UPS knows you don’t take your full lunch, so they load you up with more work each day. Multiply that by a 5 day workweek and there you have it. At least 2.5 extra hours that ups got their cardboard delivered that week... for what? So you can get home “30 minutes earlier” even though you’re working too much to begin with all because you’re skipping your lunch so they’re loading you up with more work. It’s an endless cycle and it enables them from putting in more routes.

Took me a year to figure this out, so I get it with the new guys. But to do this your whole career? Good luck making 30 years as well as making any friends.
Wrong. I worked from 9:00 to 19:30 today. Took 30 min lunch. Got paid for 10 hours. If I didn’t take a lunch I’d get paid 10,5 hours. I don’t give them anything.

If I'm paid the same or more and I'm home the same time or earlier, why would I? I'm not at a hub. They've been cutting back on ot. I've been routinely getting back to the building before 5. I've gotten my guaranteed 8 numerous times. I'm not running and I'm not preventing additional routes from being run. Im just not sitting in the truck not getting paid for no reason. Like I said before, do what you want... Keep your nose out of mine
Upstateny has returned to driving?

You gave them 30 minutes of unscheduled work.
I don’t have an automatic 1 hour of pay taken out for lunch. Only 30 minutes of pay is taken out when I take a 30 minute lunch. 1 minute is taken out if I put in 1 minute for lunch. I am NOT working for free at anytime.

I would prefer to take only 30 minutes, but we’re required to sit for an hour here.

Your dispatch should allow for an hour to be taken for lunch (no work scheduled) when you work through it you are getting paid but you are giving them 30 minutes of unscheduled work in so doing you are doing more work because they are dispatching that hour, getting finished and in faster and taking away management’s responsibility to dispatch the route properly.

All dispatched work is scheduled. The hour lunch is always included. The only unscheduled work I do is when I help the sorry asses.

Now we just need one of our drivers to learn the difference between allot and a lot...

That's just it. I hate sitting in the truck or wherever doing nothing. I've paced like a cage lion. Good, give more stops. I come to work to make money and deliver packages. Not sit in the truck for an hour not getting paid. I'm 40, I can handle now. Maybe later I'll change my tune. But for now I come to work, to work. If I take a 10 min lunch and get paid for the rest. That's an extra 50 minutes of overtime and I'll get home the same time. If you want to sit in the truck not getting paid great. Some if us don't want to do that. I don't have a milf on my route I can bang
Amen! Being required to take a 1 hour unpaid lunch is ridiculous.

Some people are just that dumb. Some of us understand that we work too hard to work for free or donate our time. UPS is not a charity but they will gladly accept any givebacks. Only way drivers will learn is to get burned by it and some won't even learn then. We had a driver who had a 2nd accident in 3 years (the 2nd wasn't his fault) but management wants him gone because he is always under and they know he takes "shortcuts". The driver changed his ways for a couple weeks now is back to "gunning" it and has forgotten already that they will bury him when they have the chance.

This will end up in a court of law. Time cards can be checked against DIAD records.

My advice...If you are foolish enough to skip recorded lunch don't be surprised when they fire you and your bosses for dishonesty.
BAHAHAHA HA HA. The sky is falling chicken little
