If you want a status symbol house on billionaires row you can chip in a few extra bucks to help solve the growing nationwide shortage of affordable housing.
Houses in my little island town are always over $1M and this place is not a tourist destination.

Liberals in my state tacked on all kinds of cost-increasing regulations and made it impossible to build on smaller pieces of land. The result? Build big or go broke. Smaller homes are being bought and razed in order to build a much larger home.

Reagan spun around in September of 1982 and began raising taxes from the working class to offset the heavy losses in revenue. 12 tax increases if memory serves.
Reagan didn't raise taxes. A Democratic Congress raised taxes that he had to sign off on in order to get anything done that he wanted.

During the Reagan /Bush years FICA went from 6.15% on the first 25K of earnings to 7.65% on the first 51K of earnings along with raising the full retirement age from 65 to 67.
Some Republicans seem to have pretty short memories.

Yea I remember my Dad being laid off during the Carter years. Cutting taxes worked.
The reason he got laid off probably had more to do with the fact that in the summer of 1979 Paul Volker and the Fed raised interest rates to 17.6% and for a brief time hit 20%. Forget about the president Wally. The Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board runs this country.

Not short at all. The House of Representatives is responsible for controlling the money, not the administration. Any taxes proposed have to be presented in the House and passed then reconciled with the Senate before going to the president for either his signature or veto. Reagan had to work with a Democratic Congress to get what he wanted, which was primarily defense spending.
