Why do people keep bringing up inferior EVs or awful charging setups like VW? People are just allergic to Tesla or something.

1 charge. 45 minutes. And I make the 600 mile trip the same as you with your 45 minute stop.
Wouldn't you agree that if 25% went back to ICE's it's primarily due to bad experiences with those others?

Sorry, but I don’t care anymore.

Maybe they should be able to swap out batteries, like propane tanks. I used to have to go to 1 place to fill my gas tank, now I swap it.

NIO does that in China. It was considered for Tesla, but it only works with extreme population density. That's why it works well for NIO, but Tesla is much better off without it.

Still, I like that more than waiting.
It doesn't scale as a business model in a place without population density. The US doesn't have that density. It adds significantly to the cost of the car and the switching stations.

People in dense cities need it because they don't have home charging or can't adapt as easily to it. The vast majority of Americans would never need the ability because they can charge at home. It would be a wasted, very expensive feature.

I do a ton of road trips of 3 to 10 hours for long weekends, and I use public charging stations maybe 5 to 10 times per year. This really isn't a thing that people need or want.

I didn't even know how to use a charging station until I'd owned it for a year.

Just saw a German vehicle, looks a bit like a van, that uses 2 batteries for around town usage. If you want to take a trip you can rent up to 6 more batteries from the dealer. Of course Germany and the EU are relatively small.

That makes more sense

A lot of things that work in Europe are impractical in the US because things are so much more spread out

But they could work in regions like the Northeast. But overall wouldn't want the nuisance of long charging times compared to filling a gas tank. Now if we could get back to the days of train travel and rent an electric car once there I'd be for that.

Someone will come up with a way to charge faster or exchange batteries efficiently. If there’s a market and a way to make money, someone will find it. As long as the commies don’t prevail.
