You and your fellow drivers have the right to refuse to operate unsafe equipment.

If you band together and keep writing them up as unsafe, eventually the company will be forced to do something about the problem.

Their usual solution is to just reassign the vehicle to someone who wont complain. If everyone in your center is on board and willing to refuse to drive it, something will get done.

Being out on route and calling in saying "the shimmy just got so bad I cant drive it any more" will force the company to call a tow truck. A few grand in towing bills will get the message across in language they are guaranteed to understand.

Sometimes you just have to do it to get them to really pay attention to the problem. I have had to refuse tractors for unsafe conditions.

Thats an extra half hour of overtime the company was forced to pay you. At some point perhaps they will realize the fact that it is ultimately cheaper for them to just do the right thing and provide suitable vehicles that are properly maintained.

But they aren't trucks---they are package CARS They don't call them that just for the heck of it

I was noticing just yesterday that on the V.I.N plate that it stated it was a truck. Is UPS the only one that calls these "cars"?
