Very true. We had a mechanic months away from retirement who resorted to stealing smart phones bcause his son had a gambling addiction and owed some bad people money. He was caught and fired...lost everything.

I was so worried ,one time.
I walked back into work,and handed my sup a pen and a marker. didnt want to get accused of stealing them!

In my time doing union business I've heard or seen things that I can't explain and have a hard time even believing grow adults would do. The thing is people do some stupid stuff and they will never stop.

lol just Last week...my sup said I could leave..I grab my stuff...walk off the belt to go to my center manager's office to punch out, A driver on TAW starts talking to me before I get there..and we went out to have a cigarette...10 min later, I realize I'm still on the clock...so I rush back in, clock out and find my PT sup to let him know to dock me 10 min. I'm not getting fired for stealing time...

You see some of the funniest stuff at ups or being a teamster. At least when you retire and you meet the boys for breakfast you will always have endless stories.

When I first got hired. they fingerprinted us,took our photo,and a hand writing sample.

For a while they required birth certificates too. After I started but they did it for a while. I'm guessing that quietly went away.

Nope. They took a polaroid photo of me for the handmade old style ID card I got when I started 5 years ago then cut it for the ID card. A couple years ago when we went to the new style ID card they took a digital photo of me but I have never been fingerprinted at work. As for handwriting sample--I've given several of those...via grievance forms.

Had a driver in our center back in the 80's, customer noticed his PC had been sitting in parking lot for a little while and contacted center manager. center manager came out and opened door, and driver standing there with porno mags everywhere and didn't have a stitch on. I guess he was thinking about all his deliveries and maybe driver release.

We had a pre load supe that was getting his arse CHEWED every day over misloads and LIB's. He would go out and meet the drivers,get the misloads then store them in his personal car and run them down the belt the next morning as he was tired of working 18 hours a day due to the misloads. He no longer has to worry about working so many hours
One driver in a neighboring center was in the middle of nowhere taking a leak when a patrol car just happened to go by. he got his job back after a month or so
back in the days of Cash COD's we had a couple of drivers who would record the COD's as either Future or NM1 and pocket the cash, then repay it a week or two later. They did not get their jobs back

Witnessed many of the same stories all have posted about here. Most numerous violations? A little Mary J in system. Feeders getting popped on random. Why? Beats me why someone would jeopardize this for just that.
One that stands out, tho, is sleeper team we had. Both drivers were padding miles. Back then (yeah, I know cuz I was sleeper for 5 years), we had to hand-write in all miles on, what seemed to be, endless reams of paper...paper log books, Penske fuel sheets, Louky run sheets, the works. It was easy to pad but, also, easy to cross-check. WE never did because we weren't that way and we could always make money running legal, anyway.
Company had been doing their OWN cross-checking and found out they'd been doing that for quite some time. Open and shut case. Admitted it. "A" driver blamed on "B" driver. "B" driver blamed on "A" driver. Both been gone now for quite some time.
