Just curious, does it register a violation if your truck is still rocking back and forth when you release your seatbelt?

It registers if the wheel was moving. They want you to come to a COMPLETE stop before you take off the belt. They need to give some leeway, but for lawsuit sake, they won't. If your car has a bad emergency brake, it would affect it as well.

Ok, that shouldn't affect my sporh then, because my routine has me jumping up while the truck is still rocking and grabbing the bulk head door chain with one hand so I won't lose my balance while inserting the key with the other hand.

That trigger is controlled by the (I don't know what it's called) thing on top of the holder that you have to move to get the holder to release. The trigger locks onto the metal clip on the bottom of the diad.

Yes, I did. That part of my holder no longer works.

Now, if the diad doesn't come out, it's because of the rubber on the sides of the diad.

Hmmmm, sounds like another DIY project for me.

I work close to the Atlanta Airport. We have a 6:30 start time with EAMs with a 8:00 am commit time. I was in a P5 and I had pulled a wad of paper towels out of the holder when I left the building that morning. Somebody had busted the holder and didn't bother writing it up. I gave up EAMs a couple of weeks ago, I get to sleep till 6 now, that alarm doesn't go off at 4:30 like it used to. I feel like a different person.

I agree also people who put up signs warning of there dogs become liable because they are admitting they have a dog that may attack you.

In a legal suit, if you have a "Beware of Dog" sign on your property and someone is bit, you are at fault.
Posting a sign is an admission before the fact.
By law, no dog can bite anyone, anywhere.
They use to put dogs in department stores at night to keep burglars at bay and no longer can, because of lawsuits.
Bad guys got hurt while stealing.
By Texas law,(called the Castle Rule) I can shoot someone from entering my home at night and not be held accountable, due to self defense, but, if my dog bites the bad guy before he gets into my home, I can be liable in a law suit.
In the county were I live, if someone is dog bit and goes to a doctor to be treated, a sheriff report is made. The sheriff goes to the home owner and serves a vicious dog warning. If that dog ever bites anyone again, the sheriff comes and takes the dog away, to be put down.
I have a barking dog, for this reason.
I will do the biting.

I was trained that way also, however one too many times as I un-belted and started standing up the truck's engine back lashed it almost threw me through the windshield. I hit it hard enough with my shoulder to bust the glass. Now I don't jump up so quickly.

When the diad is turned on by you pressing it, it is time stamped. The GPS system on the diad is always on the moment you sign in and scan the truck.

Im in South New England where they have implemented it full scale. It has good and bad points. They tend to criticize everything now. I have my belt on 100% of the time, but when I'm rolling to a stop and take the belt off .1 second before the tires stop, I become a stat on their system. My center manager already told me to watch my belt use, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE IT ON 100% OF THE TIME.

Hopefully this is just something they will work out of, Not Holding My Breath.

Generally 1/4 mile total distance without a seat belt has been the acceptable level. Take a look at your total distance. If its below that, they should not be worrying about your usage.

I have come to the conclusion that telemetric although a way to discipline me will in the end make me a better package delivery machine.

And only help me in the end because eventually we wont need three supervisors looking at all the blips on their screen and UPS will see this and hopefully cut some fat by dumping some sups JMO

Well that is one positive way of looking at it. We should all hope that the last part of your statement may come true. LOL

We have 3 ft OC sups, they are pretty busy everyday, most of the day. At least one of them is on road everyday doing the quarterly rides. At least one of them shows up shortly after the preload starts and begins working on staffing, figuring out splits and fielding calls from drivers wanting the day off.
One of the sups is basically in charge of ordering uniforms, another in charge of ordering supplies and the other is in charge of making sure our center manager doesn't need TP. LOL, OK that last one was a joke.....kinda sorta. The point is, much of the things we as drivers need done can only be done by supervisors and much of it gets put off as long as possible simpley because they don't have time to do everything.

UPS saves money by putting itself in a position to terminate a full-scale employee and replace him/her with one who will be in progression for two years and have only 1 or 2 weeks of paid vacation versus the 4,5 or 6 of a long-term driver.

If the company can terminate, cripple or kill off a 20 year veteran and replace him with a new hire, they will save at least $10K a year right off the bat.

This is the reason why the company wont upgrade its older equipment with power steering and 3 -point belts. They have no financial incentive to save the life or help extend the career of a 45 yr. old veteran when there is a 22 yr old rookie waiting eagerly in the wings to do the same job for $10 an hour less.

If the company truly had our safety in mind with Telematics, the sensors would be wired into the ignition so as to prevent the vehicle from even running unless the door was closed and the belt buckled.

UPS doesnt care whether or not a 2-point belt will protect the driver from serious injury or death, as long as they can use the sensors to build a case for his termination and replacement with a cheaper employee.

You need to "Sober UP" and realize the company you work for is a company that spends millions of dollars on safety training and equipment so that you can do your job safe each and every day. The reason they place sensors on seatbelts is because some people have chosen not to wear their seatbelts and have been involved with accidents that have resulted in deaths. The company does this so they don't have to arrive at your spouse's door step to tell he/she that you were killed in an accident because you weren't wearing your seatbelt. I admire a company that would spend their money on your safety. You need to do the same. When I was trained to drive, I was told to wear my seatbelt and close the bulkhead door. To me it didn't seem like an option not to just like anything else I was told to do during my training. We all have choices to make and those choices we make sometimes will affect you. If you chose not to follow procedures, is it the company that terminates you or is it your choice that terminated you?? You seem to think the company looks for every opportunity to get rid of you. I seem to think they take every opportunity, like this one, to save you.

You were a little bit harsh on sober, why? Maybe I'm wrong, but I read it as though you were scolding him, and not just giving him your opinion. Am I wrong, and if not, is this the way you speak to people on a daily basis, and if so, why?
If I'm wrong, I apologize, maybe I read too much into it all.
