Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. How would him being a third party to a conversation where the supervisor told the terminated employee to "only show up Saturday's" be detrimental to his case?
Sorry, I was being a smartass. Hard to impute that in writing but the OP is all over the place and hard to understand.

capitalism centralizes decision making in few peoples hands. these few people usually look out for their best interests at the expense of the majority's interests. so the result is you have unjustifiable stuff like this happening.

also you should check out whats being said about precarious contract jobs like Uber.

Sir Winston Churchill:

“Socialism will only work in two places; in heaven where it is not needed, and in hell where they already have it. Capitalism is the unequal distribution of wealth. Socialism is the equal distribution of poverty. Communism is nothing but socialism with a gun at your back.”

you should look up what prince says about people owning things LOL

Prince Warns Young Artists: Record Contracts Are 'Slavery'

"He also voiced his disapproval about how record labels turn artists into "indentured servitude,""

""Once we have our own resources, we can provide what we need for ourselves,""

"In 1993, when Prince and Warner Bros. were warring over his record contract, the rocker frequently appeared in public and onstage with "slave" scrawled on his cheek. Prince would soon change his name to "the Artist Formerly Known As" and "the Love Symbol" in an effort to "emancipate" himself "from the chains that bind me to Warner Bros." Prince and the label later reconciled for 2014's Art Official Age."

i dont think its a radical idea that workers should collectively own and make decisions at the jobs they work in.

i think its more radical to centralize power in the hands of a few bosses, than to have it in the hands of many workers

forbes talks about it in this article but they dont call it socialism.

Who still using TCD's ?? That period ended January 15th. Also what TCD only work's Saturday ?? I really wish people would post the whole story and not just the parts that make there story look good.... There has to be a lot more to this story that we aren't hearing...

Well. look who came back after a tear long hiatus.

Apparently, your management training did not include learning contractual language.

The seasonal period ended January 15. Big difference.

The guy just needs to contact his steward.

Your opinion would carry a little more weight if, you know, you actually work for UPS.
i did and i got fired because its hard times for UPS and they couldnt bother to call me before i showed up for work to let me know whether there was gonna be work or not.

the fact is americans complain about their jobs on one hand but cant put 2 and 2 together and instead defend capitalism quite often.

I thought it was because they wouldn't give you the board of directors, or CEO's phone number. And you went off

people should be doing whatever they can to make life hard for UPS until they or we change their ways, including what you just said. capitalism is uncivilized.

michael moore went right into the head offices with a worker who got fired for no good reason, ill pull it up for you since you think rocking the boat is such a bad idea.

now youll have to excuse me, i have to rent my labor / pretend to work for 8 hours or less if im lucky

I've never heard of someone getting fired from UPS for "no good reason." We have a guy who tried to pick up a letterbox full of NDA and internationals after the building locked up, and he's still employed. No one gets fired for no reason.

In order to get fired from UPS you need to be basically trying to get fired, or just plain stupid.....

What Supplement are you under?

A lot of the Supplements don't have TCD's, but all the ones that do, at least as far as I knew, allowed TCD's to work outside of peak.

Central Pennsylvania Supplement

Section 7 - Bidding

(g) The Company agrees that Temporary Cover Drivers will be used
to cover absences, personal holidays, sick days and vacations.

Atlantic Area Supplement

Section 2 - Part Time Employees (Regular
Temporary Package Drivers)

1. The Company agrees that regular temporary package drivers
will be used to cover absentees, vacations, time off due to injuries,
and long term illness in the package classification provided they
meet all Company required qualifications and training.

New England Supplement

Qualified Temporary Cover Drivers and Casual Drivers
may work during the months of June, July, August, the
first two (2) weeks in September, and from October 15th
through January 15th. Temporary Cover Driver jobs will
be filled by part-time employees consistent with Article 57,
Section 2 (b) (1). Temporary Cover Drivers will be utilized
prior to Casual employees. Temporary Cover Drivers will
be recalled based upon earliest date of qualification as a
Temporary Cover Driver.

Southern Region Supplement

Section 7 – Part Time Cover Driver

(A) Seniority part-time employees may work as coverage drivers.
They may cover vacations in excess of those filled by full-time
vacation coverage drivers and may fill absences in excess of
those covered by full-time non-bid drivers. All TCD(s) will be
offered package car driver (PCD) work prior to using seasonal
package drivers. Additionally, during the peak season period,
when a PCD(s) is absent, said route(s) will not be abolished
and helper(s) utilization increased to avoid using a TCD(s) to
cover said absence(s). No coverage drivers may be used if full-time
employees are on layoff. Part-time coverage drivers may not be used
to supplement the work force, only as temporary replacements.

Upstate/West New York Supplement

Appendix A

Upstate/West New York Districts
Section 1 New Part-Time Cover Driver

A) Seniority part-time employees can work as Temporary Cover
drivers as coverage for seniority full-time package and feeder drivers.
