I'm a big fan of fight club too, but Tyler was basically homeless, and preached a Zen Buddhist philosophy. I'm not saying any of it was wrong, but it all comes down to what you value. People ought to be free to pursue the things they find value in, with the understanding that resources are limited and most people have to make trade offs and can't have everything just as they want it. Hence the free market.
I think a lot of people pursue material wealth and possessions and then figure out on their own it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, that’s always the best way for people to learn you could never force and get a good outcome

Yes I would say most people make poor choices with money. Many people say they are poor But have 70 inch TVs brand new cars and the nicest new iPhone
Can we define "a good choice with money"? With respect, for who? You? Me? Them?

Say, if those 70 in folks etc live most/all their lives in such a manner.....maybe they are happy. Who's to say? Lot's of folks get beat up on BC about money....by folks you could't pay me to be.

See?

For example I work with people who are constantly broke and make six figures. Their family suffers they get divorced they get their cars re-Po’ed they lose their homes I would think those are not very good choices personally but maybe someone enjoys that more power to them.

Inordinately Right
Why I want a condo over a house, I want bare minimum ownership and commitment, without getting completely screwed. It’s how I am about most things.
It's pretty easy to get screwed in a condo. Someone is managing the massive amount of money you're paying in fees to take care of those properties, and you're at the mercy of their ability to do the job.

If they screw it up you can't exactly leave. I don't know why you would do that over renting.

Because renting is just money going straight into a landlord’s pocket. At least my “rent” money would go into my condo’s mortgage or whatever it’s called.

Correct?

Uh no. More like a housing community with an H O A. They own em. And last I checked voluntarily bought them.

Yes. Just like time shares. Exactly.

So, filling in a little... therefore scams? i know a guy that has 3 time shares.....loves em....
Yes my grandparents owned four and they loved them at first. Then special assessments hit. And one of them they owned everyone had to pay an extra $5000 for the erosion of the beach more than half of the “owners” didn’t pay. The place went belly up

I know those folks too....some make way less. One just got out prison with 2 baby mommas.

A couple of folks at work have several kids/ex-wives and keep making them over and over....

Yes it is better than renting but it is not exactly owning it’s something in between because even after you’ve paid it off your dues are due every month. I’m sure they’re different everywhere but some of them are quite costly my dad’s was $330 a month

You know nice suburbs have HOAs and HOA fees as well. They have community pools, grills , parks, security, etc. You live anywhere really nice with a community of other nice people, yes you’re gonna be asked to chip in and I’m fine with that.

Not that simple. HOA's tell you how to live. You would have to kill me to live in one again.
