Then you are stealing from the company that pays your wages, by providing a service not paid for. UPS does not want their employees giving away the profits.You have a point but I prefer to think of it as simply good customer service and you know you can't put a $ on that.
I am all for providing the customer with the service they pay to receive. I understand what you are saying and I agree that our customer service should be exemplary but we are supposed to do the job correctly, doing as you suggested is not.
I have no idea what your center manager would say, mine would say, "Don't do that again.''.
