Yes, I am a old timer. This reminds me of when UPS switched from Ford 300 straight six to the GM 292 straight six.
You couldn't make a left hand turn with the GM when they were cold. They would conk out in the middle if the turn every time! ( But UPS got the first batch for free - no wonder)
