DHL, FedEx and UPS Are Ready to Save the World -Yahoo

In normal times, globe-spanning logistics groups such as Deutsche Post AG, FedEx Corp. and United Parcel Service Inc. quietly keep the economy humming.

Covid-19 has recast that unassuming role in a more heroic light. When the pandemic history is written, the logistics industry will deserve a volume. “UPS-ers are essential workers,” the U.S. company’s boss Carol Tome told investors recently.

Their most important task — quickly and safely delivering billions of doses of a coronavirus vaccine worldwide — still lies ahead. The massive demand and the ultra-cold temperatures required to store some promising vaccine candidates (including the one developed by Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE) will provide an unprecedented logistical challenge.

Dare To Care food bank receives 16,000 pounds of food from UPS – WHAS11

UPS delivered more than 16,000 pounds of food to Dare To Care food bank at a time when food banks are expecting to see an increased need from the community.

The delivery is part of the company’s annual food drive. According to UPS spokesperson Becca Hunnicutt, this year’s donation is more than it collected last year when it collected 15,929 pounds.

“This year the amount of food is less, but also you have to take into consideration some of those items cost more this year with COVID-19 and the pandemic,” she said.

UPS Temporarily Renting Portion of WSDOT Property in Wenatchee – KPQ

UPS has come to an agreement to lease a portion of the WSDOT property temporarily for the holiday season.

Wenatchee Development Project Manager Matt Shales says this will be in addition to the UPS facility in the south end of town.

“I think in years past, for the need, they were able to use their current space. The need is so great this year that they need to expand that operation and it won’t fit [their current building.]”

The expectations are that online ordering, and thus delivery and shipping, will be greatly expanded this winter.
