I don't know what I would say if my DSA meeting were that short.
And of course the goofballs over at socialists united tried to crash my union sellout meeting.

When do we eat?
There are Fedex ground guys doing it for $15 bucks and hour with crappy healthcare and no pension. There will be no shortage of UPS part timers applying for that 22.4 job at $30 dollars an hour, $12 dollars an hour to pension and accruing full time progression.
Yea but how long do those FedEx droogs actually last? They have a shelf life of a loaf of bread.

In Chicago suburbs, We can’t get a single part timer to go RPCD right now. They are taking off the street referrals to fill in 15 plus driver spots they need filled in just our building. I hate the idea of 22.4 but we won’t have them because no one will take it.

Says a lot when young men would rather join the Marines or Army and go to Afghanistan then be a package delivery driver. The job totally sucks.

I pray for all those who swear the oath to defend this country. Who gives a damn about being a delivery driver.

UPS is its own worse enemy. They treat people like garbage any scratch their heads on why they are not an employer of choice given the pay and benefits.

Why is this acceptable to you? What in your life has made you devalue yourself to such an extent that working at UPS makes you feel like you deserve to be less of a man and thus be treated as less than a man?
Men take care of their family, your argument is flawed, all you do is complain about how bad working for ups is and how bad you have got it., also how crappy the union is. Again, MEN handle this type of job to provide for family

There are plenty of jobs out there where you hardly see you’re family. You either quit, don’t apply for the job, get educated and get a proffesion in that field or just be a man and work hard to provide for your family in the hopes your offspring will fare better than you.

You're missing the point. UPS advertises that it's pro-family and pretend that they care... but you learn that this sales pitch is nothing more than a sales pitch AFTER you're hired. Why would this individual quit when we have a union that's supposed to be working in our favor to protect our rights that the company AGREED on in a CONTRACT. And to suggest that these hard workers aren't being men for their families is an insult.

Dude.... It’s a job, we get paid , it’s not a favor we are giving, it’s bust ass work but it’s also dumb labor. 100k with GOOD benefits. As I said, find better. Good luck

Wow, you just don't get it. You can take your generalizations and stick'em right where you seem to enjoy getting it. As for me, I will stick up for myself and my fellow brothers and sisters in what we feel we deserve! If you feel the need to devalue yourself and if your definition of, "being a man" is bending over that is your problem, don't go trying to include me and other self respecting teamsters in your pitty party!

I listed jobs in companies that pay as well and have better bennies! If you are to lazy to read the entire thread that's on you! Thankfully, most Teamsters don't feel the need to devalue themselves as you do. Self respect still means something to some of us.

Nice way of belittling and bullying here. You stick up for misinformation and lies don’t you mean? What exactly were those few jobs that paid more?

I chose the words I use for a reason. Please stop asking me to do your work! I am so sick of doing the dispatcher's work, and management's work, and OMS's work. If you have an issues with reading comprehension or are to lazy to read a 6 page thread I can not help you. Let me rephrase that, I have no desire to help you! Add to my list, Spirit Aerospace has better insurance and the pay is only slightly less, like by a dollar/hour. No degree needed. Case International is advertising job openings for $32/hour no experience needed and will train. No clue the bennies!

The railroad does not pay more, the insurance (that they pay for) is not near as good, and their pension is only better than our (depending on UPS region) because you can get a spousal benefit.

Stop yelling at people, the fact is this is a mindless job that pays a :censored2: ton of money with great benefits. This is probably the least amount of stress you can have for a job that pays and provides this well.

You can dislike the contract (I voted against it) without having to make us sound bigger or more important than we are, we're just package guys moving cardboard from one place to another.

look, a nice respectful post from a no voter. Weather one votes yes or no, they should not be attacked by the MOB. Thank you for your due diligence and voting.

Our union levels the playing field. We kick arse out there, making nice profits. We share nicely in those profits.
how do you know you share nicely in the profits?

wages for workers have been flat adj for inflation since 73. meanwhile corporations have record profits.

i dont think the playing field is anywhere near level, and i think the union is corrupt.

but at least you have a union
