Are 22.3 jobs protected?

The contract says they will not be reduced.

Is there anything to keep them from being converted to 22.4 as they open up?

Current 22.3 jobs I believe are protected. The remaining number of 22.3 jobs that are to be created will also count as 22.4 for the total number.

22.3 jobs are supposedly protected, but the language in my opinion is really weak. Several years ago I had a 22.3 job that was eliminated by the company. I asked the business agent how they can just eliminate the position, and he said they can just move the job somewhere and reassign it. I’m still not sure if the company has had any accountability for maintaining the number of 22.3 jobs that were supposed to be created in the past contracts.

Seeing as how the language allows for 22.4 positions to be created in lieu of 22.3 positions, you better believe they won't create another 22.3 position ever again...they'll just go to extreme lengths to avoid creating them in hubs where there are no weekend operations.

    The company hates 22.3's.
You can bet that as they are vacated they will be rebid as 22.4's

If you don't have a 22.3 job now you never will.

It's for the best. All of our new 22.3 jobs are garbage like load/load.

This also means that us current 22.3's will be 'locked' into our sorts, since bidding on new 22.3 jobs will be rare, if any at all.
