i heard 7 out of 10 americans polled oppose the brownbailout by the government.

Did you notice the pollster on this was hired and paid for by FedEx and the announcement came out of Memphis.

I think most people (especially Senators and their staff) can see through this poll rather easily.

I posted this somewhere else here but it deserves to be coupled with your statement. ( or to put less modestly and more correctly , your statement has enough merit to be linked to my statement, smile, wink wink) :

What sickens me , is that even though it is mentioned on top of this article that it is a press release, the fact that it is in yahoo finance seems to present it as a legitimate article (however legitimate an article on yahoo finance can be ).

The fact that the article seems to be written by businesswire also adds legitimacy to the "article" as the name of businesswire seems to sound like that of a real newsservice . A slight look at businesswire.com shows me that all it is is a hired gun p.r. (public relations, not puertorican) firm that issued and distributed this press release for its client , fed ex. I don't think most people reading this piece of garbage are going to look that deep. That much being said, this is the internet and people will just go on to the next article, video, piece of porn, email from relatives, and forget all about it. They may not even read the whole thing as there is not a single mention of Myley Cyprus in the opening paragraphs.

One of my emails is * so I went to yahoo.com and didn't see this "article" on the main page. I then moved my cursor to the "yahoo finance" section and hit click and was taken to that page. I looked all around and did not see any link, reference , to the article or the article itself. And I was looking hard. So I doubt other people are going to view this article. Fed ex and businesswire might have more eyes viewing this article if they had placed it in the local pennysavers throughout the country.

Also notice, if you go to the yahoo link that cheryl provided, right above the title of the article, is a feedback button that is requesting your comments about the reformatted yahoo finance section. I clicked and sent back a comment to yahoo stating that it is wrong to be an outlet for a press release. However, I also fear the more that we access this article, the more likely it is that the article will be promoted out of the depths of obscurity and hence be featured more prominently than it is now .

IMHO ...The general public has no idea what is going on, nor do they care.

This battle will be won or lost in Washington DC. The following excerpt is from an article written in 2007. I think the chances are good that it will pass through a Democratic controlled Senate. Mr. Oberstar has already kept good on his promise.

The delivery giants and organized labor have battled over the issue before. FedEx Express briefly lost its airline status in the mid-1990s, but a Republican-controlled Congress reinstated it after a bitter fight with some pro-labor Democrats, including Oberstar. Oberstar said he "vowed at the time" to change the law if Democrats ever took control of Congress. He said he was "offended by FedEx's powerhouse lobbying in 1996 protecting themselves against any future organizing activities."

This has to be one of the silliest threads ever created. The claim that FedEx has "won" the RLA battle is baseless and comical at best. But hey keep pretending FedEx. Just like you've been pretending you are even comparable to UPS all these years.

Agreed. I mentioned this on the bailout blog.

800 people polled, from a conservative agenda polling source. And this is supposed to provide accurate information regarding "the publics opinion"

this is a ridiculous statistical anomaly manufactured by a companys agenda who was hired to make up such a number

They are as clever as UPS regarding fudging numbers ;)

I wonder how many 800 people were polled before they could attract a group of 800 to vote the way they wanted?

I delivered 70 nda att iphones in the last two days....Did we win that account from fed x?

Yes we did, but imagine the groveling our sales reps did thinking it'd make a diff. They were gonna use us anyways- for testing. My center manager was freaking out till the last iphone got delvd. Their must've been a bounus for centers that delvd all phones without service issues.

One driver was asked by our last center manager to report his injury on monday because he had a personal bonus for no inj/no accidents for that month and it would screw that bonus if he couldnt wait till monday.

NYS gives a math assessment skills test for high school students each year and this is the first year that we have been chosen to do the pickup. We were told that we had to make the pickup between 2 and 5 and to send an ODS when we completed the pickup. Our center manager was on vacation so the on-car coordinated it and you would have thought he was planning for a military operation with all of the messages we received. Our center was 100% compliant but it would be so nice if they actually treated us as adults and let us do the job the way that we were trained to.

One of the perks of living in a rural area is that the I-Phone is not on the list of priorities.

Please note that this is a press release sent written by and sent directly from FedEx. It was published as part of Yahoo's news stream just like they publish all other press releases from major corporations.

Don't ever confuse the distribution of a press release with an endorsement of the press release's content. Press releases are written by public relations people aka spin doctors.

You know why they used FedEx as the company? Because as UPSers we never would have left a fellow UPSer out there like that!

I do believe UPS was approached first to make that movie. UPS said no because their planes haven't crashed. Protecting their image was a priority. UPS would've flown around the storm so there wouldn't be any material for a movie. The girl at the end would've got her pkg. on time and the UPS guy would be getting married for the third time to her. Just another average day at Brown.

I UPS said no because their planes haven't crashed.

I believe when the movie was made FDX did mot have a fatal crash also. But the idea of promoting the brand with a star like Tom Hanks was irresistible. The PR people jumped at this because of the free advertising for years it has been shown over and over again on TV.

Maybe FDX is smaller than UPS but the way FDX is presented and marketed to the public is genius. Everyone still loves the "Absolutely,Positively" but does anyone mention the "Tightest Ship in the Shipping....".

Getting back to the topic of this page, the celebration is so premature. I believe the bill hasn't even been presented to the Senate yet. Mr. Fedex is just trying to infect this forum with speculation about the outcome. He will be back posting about the virtues of UPS when the real ruling prevails.

Actually I do hear that sometimes, but I sure do hear a lot more of "What can Brown do for you?"

THAT one was genius!

Lets just put it this way, Fedex has the apple account nation wide, and the last time apple did a major launch, Fedex screwed the pooch on it BIG time on the west coast. Had they not, those phones you delivered and thousands of others in our system would have gone to Fedex again.

We will get the rest of that business, thanks to your hard work and high work ethic, and thanks to the um, not so hard work and not so high work ethic of fedex4life. So thanks to you both!
