burn it down and put up a parking lot
Totally agree the only problem
Is then these worthless people who are all confined to one community spread out and infest other communities.

Did you read the article? Said it would cost 70 million dollars to replace the house for 200 families..... Is our government that wasteful? That's a 350k home for each family. In that town 350k would get you a 5000+ sq ft plantation mansion.

The whole state is in trouble. How far from being broke? It's like Puerto Rico all over again.
Haven't had a budget since the new governor took over.

I said when he was elected the guy that does what actually needs done will be a one term hated man.

The problem is the democrats control everything else and won't give up anything.

Just like Jersey, one party rule for decades, taxes are the answer to everything. Problem is, people leave, jobs leave, and the spending and borrowing never stops.

Not really cooking up anything today. Was craving pancakes, but didn't have any milk. Maybe tomorrow. I'm bbq'ing next month for a birthday party, tho.
I just did that. Turned out good.

Opinion: Top 10 reasons why Illinois fell into financial abyss

#1. Years of poor financial management

Even aside from the pension problem, in recent years policymakers have carried over deficits, delayed payments, used one-time money, and resorted to other budgetary tricks to get from one fiscal year to the next. Simply put, this comes from a short-sighted focus on the next election. The result has been a huge structural deficit that no longer can be ignored. Fixing this requires service cuts and tax hikes, neither of which anyone likes — least of all legislators who have to explain them to voters.

Free stuff mentality. That is the problem. No bailouts, deal with it yourself IL, CA, NJ, NY.

Public employees bankrupted the state. And control the Dems in power who protect them.

Yes and no. Instead of making cuts the state just "borrowed" the pension payment money for years to balance their budget. Now it's a hole they'll never get out of.

But then you have things like they get a 3% raise every year to their pension. That's insane.

They easily make more after they retire than they did working.

Yeah usually takes 5-6 years.

But it's based off your best 3 years. You have prison guards who have made 65k or so their whole career suddenly picking up all of the ot they can for a few years and having retirement based off of 6 figure incomes.
