My roof was damaged in a storm a few years ago. Just a small hole but part of a tree on the roof. The insurance paid 100% to get the weight off the roof right away and do a temporary patch. I had to wait a little while for a permanent repair that I had to pay part of.

we have a 2% deductible on insured value

We had the paper work in hand before the storm to increase the insured value from what we paid to what it’s worth five years later

Didn’t turn it in before the storm

Would have nearly doubled our deductible

At home there was No power, No gas, Little food, and Minimal water

At the Hotel there was free custom omlettes and free breakfast and free happy hour at night on drafts and house wine

We were about to redo the bathroom that’s damaged anyway

Besides my roof insurance paid for a new awning on my back porch. My old one was needing to be replaced anyway.

It wasn't from a hurricane though. Ice storm which you seldom see in your neck of the woods.

On Christmas Eve and I was without power for the holidays.
