Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiology professor at Harvard University, told us that there was plenty of evidence that a disease of this kind posed a serious threat and that the notion that it could not be foreseen is off base.

“Three years ago, experts were saying that bat coronaviruses could become a new pandemic,” he said in an email. “Almost two months ago, experts were saying that the new virus in Wuhan was potentially a global threat. One month ago, experts were saying that it was likely to be pandemic, and the White House’s response was that this was under control, despite the fact that the US’s lack of testing was demonstrably giving a false picture of the extent of infection. This was foreseeable, and foreseen, weeks and months ago, and only now is the White House coming out of denial and heading straight into saying it could not have been foreseen.”

South Korea has a neighbor to their north that has the capability and mentality to use biological weapons against them, and were prepared for that probability.
That’s why they were able to react so quickly to the threat.
They also empowered private industry to step up during the SARS outbreak that hit them harder than us.

That is the exact opposite of the model our previous two administrations set up, which was to centralize that power to the federal government. Of course the CDC blew it and here we are.

Trump's reality-TV simulacrum of a competent leader is working to fool Americans.
I can spot a brainwashed leftist.
You're parroting progressive propaganda and trying to pass it off as your own. I can Google your plagiarism loser.
Pathetic!

Don't let Trump play the hero: This crisis is all on him

LMAO, still pushing that hoax?
Useful as a crutch when you can't refute the facts I guess.

Igor, come on out of the hut. Vlad will give you a case of vodka and a pack of cigarettes. No more canned fish either. You get a potato for being such a good troll.

They're moving you up to an igloo with a empty 5 gallon can that will be your new "bathroom". Yep, your butt won't get frozen to the outhouse seat any more, buddy.

You're on the way up.

Sounds like people are starting to highlight the fact the death rate is highly inflated.
About time, it only took throwing us into a recession for the pusillanimous to calm down.

It's been around 1.0 to 1.4% for a while ... what is the revised rate?

Germany has a rate of 0.5% ... definitely the lowest of any country.

It seems that higher testing rates results in a lower death rate.

No revisions yet but they are wanting to test people for corona anti-bodies and widen the tests to more people. I have a feeling once the mild cases of it start getting documented, people who didn’t seek medical attention, the cfr is going to significantly decrease.

From the git the New York Times and the Washington Post were downplaying this virus and were saying any crackdown on flights from China and other measures would be xenophobic and racist. Now they sing a different tune, attacking Trump for not doing enough. There's no easy answers, just easy criticism from hypocrites.
Correction msm in cahoots with democratic leadership said such measures we're not required and simply xenophobic
