A discussion of that potential
Good news is, should help the unemployment numbers.
The bad news, more debt!

And that has what to do with western ground troops in Libya? Some countries have legitimate rights to visit the rebels, if you haven't heard this yet :
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Canada formally recognized the Libyan rebels as the legitimate government of the country on Tuesday.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird told Parliament the rebels are the true representatives of the Libyan people.
He said the recognition is part of an enhanced effort to work with the National Transitional Council of Libya, the key rebel organization fighting dictator Moammar Gadhafi.
Canada joins France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in formally recognizing the council.
And that has what to do with western ground troops in Libya?
A group of six westerners are clearly visible in a report by al-Jazeera from Dafniya, described as the westernmost point of the rebel lines west of the town of Misrata. Five of them were armed and wearing sand-coloured clothes, peaked caps, and cotton Arab scarves.
The sixth, apparently the most senior of the group, was carrying no visible weapon and wore a pink, short-sleeve shirt. He may be an intelligence officer. The group is seen talking to rebels and then quickly leaving on being spotted by the television crew.
Maybe you should have taken some time to read the link in post#2 from wkmac ?
And, I believe those are diplomatic visits and talks.
Gee, you can't even live in your house without a gun, do you expect them to go to Libya without one ?
Obama’s negation of ‘hostilities’ in Libya draws criticism
By David A. Fahrenthold, Published: June 20
The White House has officially declared that what’s happening in Libya is not “hostilities.”
But at the Pentagon, officials have decided it’s unsafe enough there to give troops extra pay for serving in “imminent danger.”
The Defense Department decided in April to pay an extra $225 a month in “imminent danger pay” to service members who fly planes over Libya or serve on ships within 110 nautical miles of its shores.
That means the Pentagon has decided that troops in those places are “subject to the threat of physical harm or imminent danger because of civil insurrection, civil war, terrorism or wartime conditions.”
Just what are our National Interest in this non-conflict ?
Nothing, that's why leave it up to the Europeans , Canada, and the Arabian countries.
I'm certain Europe will like Libyans oil in the future.
US sure doesn't need it ???!!!!
