Labor Shortage

Then stay in school get an MBA an try to move up the corporate ladder. Nobody is forcing you into this life. If you don’t like it quit. It’s still pays better than most jobs, but you have to work hard. Ain’t for everyone.

still missing the point. people don't mind working hard, just pay them what they deserve. keep running the narrative that it doesn't require education and it's not a skilled job ...that's fine. apparently they still need this type of labor aka labor shortage. this generation knows their worth and hopefully they'll expose it. pay gap is insane from what it used to be.

It requires basic education and a strong work ethic. It’s not rocket science. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m for the highest wages we can get. You just can’t get em over night. We all had to wait to get to top wage. Prove you can do the job first.

PT Union member making $38/hr working right next to another PT Union member making $15/hr working right next to another FT Union member making $30/hr. I thought Unions were the great equalizer in the labor market.

What? That they think they are worth more then they are?

Nothing according to the man that has the job. Everything to the man busting his butt for $15/hr for 3 1/2 hours and no benefits. And paying Union dues.
I busted my butt too. As much as I can’t stand this company at times, they need to remain profitable for all our sakes. CEOs make what the company thinks they’re worth. Above my pay grade. And it’s always been that way. Don’t fall for that socialist bs. Let the union do the negotiating

Took me 90 day to reach top pay and all benefits.

Job description, hire dates etc. contract negotiation. Who knows. Doesn’t sound fair but do you know all the particulars!

I had to suck it up. It was stupid but what choice did I have? That was the progression when I started. I don’t condone it. It is what it is.

You made my point. You young guys think that just because this is the way it is now means that it has always been this way. You can't believe the concessions that the Union has given to UPS over the last 30 years. And the company just keeps posting record profits year after year.

I agree. But there’s a lot of apathy amongst rank and file. Make sure you vote on the contract and go to meetings at the hall. It won’t change if you don’t get involved. I’ve seen how the union has caved over the last 20 years, it isn’t all about wages either, how about working conditions? If the company does concede a little they often times don’t follow through and the union doesn’t enforce it.

Deranged lunatic
Healthcare Housing Childcare College are the direct inputs of a strong labor market. All 4 are in terrible shape right now. Interestingly enough though it explains why the teen labor market is currently so strong comparatively lol.

exactly, but why bust your åss when the highest wage isn't enough? when most of these jobs are run by agencies with no benefits. contractors that can just dip when shít hits the fan. mostly non union jobs. and then they cry about the union jobs not doing enough. well guess what, there aren't that many union jobs because there's been complacency amongst the labor force and union leaders (Denis T). the problem is bigger than UPS/unions. usually goes back to greed and lack of transparency these last 30/40 years. now most of these kids are college educated working normal jobs and seeing the lack of future in any of them. theyre just exposing this shīt. respect.
