if i find some articles from sources I trust on the seattle minimum wage, ill try and remember to post here. im guessing its working out good.

not sure theres any point in talking to 'what the hawk' about it, sounds pretty new to economics.

i think this thread is pretty sick considering some people want minimum wage workers to make less than $15 and then their solution is to have them work more. i find 8 hour days to be too long, i prefer 6 hour days, and i couldnt imagine doing 16 hour days (ive done it, made maybe the most money ever too) and 12 is way too much.

Look at the research. Seattle will implode. The higher minimum wage wouldn't be a terrible idea if they elected people within the city who didn't raise taxes all the time. Seattle is so so expensive to live in, $15 an hour really isn't the answer..it's still not enough to be honest.

Simple answer, they've been giving employees the amount of hours they can afford to give all along, now that the wage is higher they need to cut the hours or cut somewhere so they can afford workers. Not rocket science, just business. Everything businesses do, they do it to profit or gain from. Why should anyone pay you more for the same amount of hours you were getting without cutting or raising other things within the business? They'll lose profit that way.

Companies do their work with the fewest possible employees. If it takes 5 people to run an operation, they'll use 5 people. Even if you lower the minimum wage or taxes they will use 5 people. If you raise the minimum wage they'll still use 5 people if that's what it takes to operate. They'll either raise the price of their services or try to increase productivity if the wage increases. When my employees want a raise, they have to do more work, and I will push my people to the limits before I hire another driver.

Also depends on the type of lifestyle said employee lives though. I mean there are a lot of factors.

For who? You're going on about Seattle. In Seattle $15 is a living wage for a single person, a working couple, and a working couple with one child. You admitted earlier you didn't understand what a living wage really was, and I provided you with a link. Maybe actually look at it this time.
