Except for dentists, no one closes down for lunch between 12 and 1 anymore. My favorite is when there's a Saturday air for a business that's closed because it's Saturday but you STILL can't sheet it as missed between 12 and 1.

Paid by the hour, easy money.

That's the only annoying thing about it. You arrive at a business that you know is closed on that particular day and it just happens to be between 12-1 so now you have to come back for no reason. Yes obviously this is what known closeds are for but i'm a cover driver.

What is the point? No one runs a business this way.

Not all businesses are store fronts. Ever do an industrial park route? Lot's of receiver's (often just one person) are off at lunch 12-1. There's even signs that say no deliveries 12-1. Just because your route doesn't have such businesses doesn't mean they don't exist.
