On a 20 hour week your new hire are earning over $20/hr. That is more then starting driver wages.
More than many 12+ year part-timers are making. And they wonder why morale is so low.

"I need you to care!" - direct quote from a sort manager from a $200/week attendance bonus center. But he can't figure out why people don't care. :confused2::confused2::confused2:

That might be hard to do when ft drivers are making $36+ an hour and couldn't care less if helpers were making min wage.

Well on the flipside at FDX when your helper is making more than the driver things get a little heated.. we had couriers that didn't step foot out of the truck all day, ran that helper like a dog.

UPS delivery drivers treat their helpers the same way. Maybe buy them a hamburger and water for lunch.
