Amazon wasn’t invested into shipping nearly as much as they are now, and didn’t own an entire grocery chain. Not to mention more than half the states gave Amazon an unfair advantage over brick and mortar stores, no taxes.

I fixed the spelling, in terms of taxes, I don’t think there’s a state that doesn’t charge taxes on Amazon purchases currently.

You can't pay people 54 to 90 dollars to deliver 10 packages and make money.

Amazon gives you 10 packages for 3 hours pay and does stuff like over booking 100 drivers who get payed just for showing up to the hub.
Is see the Amazon vans on my route. They are loaded with lots of packages.

Alaska, Montana, Delaware, Oregon and New Hampshire do not levy statewide sales taxes and thus remain exempt from taxes on Amazon.
Cost of doing business. Just like UPS delivering some rural areas with very little packages and lots of miles, they ate losing money on those routes.

I agree, but my city has over 1000 flex drivers so cost of doing business is rather high.
I guess they would rather have extra for peak than not enough.

True, was speaking strictly from states that do charge tax.
Pro tip: If you purchase something from a seller that is fullfilled by Amazon or a third party seller not in your state, you can avoid the taxes. Sometimes the item is the same price that’s sold by Amazon, saving you your tax rate.
