America Shutdown Implemented To Ensure Our Healthcare Capacity Is Not Exceeded

You mean like the way the decisions were made to shutdown. By the time we get reliable enough tests, and enough of them, it will likely be too late to know how many people have been infected. We'd only know the current cases, and that info wouldn't be much more helpful than the info we have now.

So, yeah, let's stay shutdown until something impossible happens. I doubt the shutdowns could last more than another month before reasonable people start ignoring shutdown orders and get back to their lives, or less reasonable people start rioting. From what I see in my area, the former is already been happening.

How many people are protesting ?
What are the numbers, a couple of hundred?
Are you advocating that we just throw the doors open with no guidance from medical experts.
Are not a majority of the states slowly reopening segments of their business

Yes, the shutdown appears to have been successful!
We have more ICU units that needed for COVID.
We have more ventilators than needed for COVID.
Not sure about PPE.
What if there is a spike in cases because the opening is done haphazardly?
Will those 2,846 ventilators Georgia has be enough?

You understand a test for the disease is only good until the person tested touches an object or meets another person?
They seem to be testing a hell of a lot of people everyday.
Of course, the test results of people tested yesterday are meaningless the next day.
Please explain your thinking on tests.

the haphazard results will only occur if people dont follow the advice to social distance and wear PPE. We cant stay shut down for years waiting on a vaccine.

Then you change course ... only a fool sets sail on a course and never changes it.
And only a fool would run full speed blindfolded.
We shut down the country on the advise of medical experts, who by your own admission have helped us get the the curve under control, why do you think we should ignore their advice on how we should reopen it?

What gives you any idea I think we should ignore them?

I can only speak from my experience on the social distancing and PPE.
Maybe 30% of the people who come in each day have PPE on
As for social distancing, if people were following the guidelines

I wouldn't have had to construct a bubble wrap barrier to get people to stop ignoring plastic barriers UPS put up for us just so they could breath all over me .

If everyone isn't doing it then it wont work

theres a reason we keep racking up 30000 new cases and 2000 dead every day.

Maybe i am misunderstanding what you are advocating
Are you not saying that we should reopen everything back up in the non New York, and Detroit areas
I asked the question based on the original premise of the shutdown to "Flatten the Curve".
As far as whether we should open the country back up ... I look at that the same way I look at Abortion.
Abortion - none of my business since I am a man.
Open up - it doesn't affect me. I will be sheltering in my basement regardless whether we open up or not.

I mentioned earlier that I think the open up versus not open up is primarily an issue that should be decided by the people who are not working and not getting a paycheck.
I'm retired and I get my SS and pension ... I'm not affected.
You're working ... you're not affected.

I have fine-tuned my approach to life and if it is out of my control or it doesn't affect me ... none of my business.
