China was quick to transform a vacant building into a hospital in 2 days and will have another up & running by Feb 5th.
Makes one think about how long this really has been going on.

Yeah got to be many thousands more already infected but not showing it yet.

What's the incubation period?

...

Nah

Guess he missed the part where the mortality rate has rapidly dropped from over 3% down to around 2%.

I can't find demographic information about the people who died, but I strongly suspect it's going to be the typical people. 60s or older, other health conditions, possibly smokers.

What's the incubation period?

2 weeks.

Lol, 50,000 people die every year in the US from the ‘regular’ flu...

Where’s the panic about that?
According to the CDC between 12,000 and 61,000 a year since 2010. Compared to how many get the flu annually it's death rate is much smaller than the coronavirus.

Sure, but if a new virus came out of China that killed 4,000 people a month, people would lose their minds, it would be all over the media.

Meanwhile...

The nature of viruses is as they spread the numbers exponentially grow. Killing 4000 in a month is bad but the concern is left unchecked it could grow to 400,000 in a month or heaven forbid like the Spanish Flu it could be millions a month. The Chinese government's reaction to this particular virus suggests they know more than they're letting on.

Seems like they’re being a little more transparent than with SARS, but who knows.

Do you want a global recession because a few people have the sniffles? It’s the flu, not a big deal. The media just needed something to scare everyone.

I thought this was an interesting picture. These are the royal guards guarding the palace in South Korea.
