Held Up

Update: I'm in the process of getting reimbursed $200. The guy who held me up walked past me in the city the other day so I called the cops and they caught him. He's being charged with first degree armed robbery. Since I'll have to go to court for that and it happened on the job, that's a paid day in court, right?

Also, the day after they caught him I was making a delivery at a bank while it got robbed at gun point and the police took my statement as a witness. They caught him too and I may have to go to court for that too. Also a paid day in court?

Will it be a full day or just the time it takes in court?

It will be as long as you're there. I was robbed, and got into a fight with the two guys that tried to steal the package from me. Quick lesson people. Don't try to street fight an 18+ year Army MP. Been there, done that, and my training put a hurting on the guy with the box. Oh, and I was scolded by Management for getting into a physical altercation with them, but quietly patted on the back outside the office. No harm or foul. Nothing like a little fist-a-cuffs during the work day right?

OK, so I had to go to court, and was escorted by a guy from LP. We were there a few hours, never had to testify because the idiots plead-out ahead of time, and was then taken back to work. Only paid for the time I was gone, and was told I could work if I wanted, but who wants to work late in the afternoon after a day in court? I didn't. I suppose I could've grieved it for the total 8 hours, but decided not to. My situation was unique, so don't use it as a guide. :)

Oh yeah, and don't get into fights over packages. You could get killed for a $15 box of vitamins if the clowns are armed, or so I've been told. :)

You should have grieved it as you are entitled to your daily guarantee.

I turned down the work they offered me to make-up the difference. I wouldn't have won since they would've worked me the hours necessary to make my 8 hours, and since it was late in the afternoon, I opted not to.

Wow, I think I'll stay away from you for a while:happy-very:, I think it is safer that way. Glad you're ok again.:2guns:

The helper does not get paid until they get on the pkg car.

If I tell my helper to meet me at a certain time, and I am late, they get paid for the time they spend waiting. The last thing I am going to do to someone who is busting their ass for $10 an hour is to nickle and dime them in order to look better on a report. Thats managements job, not mine.

The drivers in my loop all have each others cell phone numbers, and we text message each other throughout the day in order to exchange misloads, help each other with heavy pickups, etc. It is much easier and faster and less stressful than trying to communicate through the office. I dont give my cell phone# to customers, and I only use it to call the office on an exception basis, but it really is handy for driver-to-driver communication. And as far as being charged with "stealing time" for using it while on the clock....that would get laughed out of a panel hearing since all I would have to do is show the work-related nature of all the messages that I sent and received.

Wouldn't it just be easier if the company would turn on the driver to driver communication already built in to the DIADs?

Yes, but we couldnt exchange dirty jokes, boobie pictures or inappriopriate comments about our management team through the DIAD. That would take all the fun out of it.
