pretty sure the military is not even protecting you. if your military is pissing off people around the world by invading their countires, and creating terrorists, then its making you less safe
yes, we the American people sent our military abroad, we also made our health care private because we love paying for stuff. we have as much control over that stuff as you do in canada. come on here talking about how superior Canada is like your the reason it's so amazing. you have nothing to do with the way Canada conducts business. you just live there

It will be fine

That's what voting is for. Last I checked America was a republic. We vote for representatives that will enact policies we agree with. There are political parties that are against foreign military engagement. Vote for them if that's what you want.

i mean why do you think you were attacked on 9/11? you dont actually believe what bush said that "they hate us for our freedom"???

They attacked us because they they think Allah will reward them for doing it. Really, rickyb, for the last 15 years they've made it painfully clear what their intent is and the reasoning for it. Everyone has it figured out except for you.

Now that is funny!! What would bring you to the conclusion that the USA dominates hockey? Canada won gold at the Olympics and every US NHL team that wins the cup is stacked with Canadians.

Ya might want to pump the brakes there. While you guys have vastly improved hockey development over there, to say you dominate the sport is a very big stretch.

Gentlemen, gentlemen... The only reason the US bothers with hockey is that we need people who make our football players look smart by comparison.

The military acts on commands from a civilian commander in chief. They don't just go run off willy nilly invading countries. And learn some history. Muslims have been invading countries and practicing terrorism since Mohammed created the religion over a thousand years ago. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing so try to gain more.
u know what the definition of terrorism is right? its when you use violence for political purposes. so say a cop attacks a protestor, that cop would be a terrorist. and every time the US government attacks countries around the world, they are committing acts of terrorism, and are the biggest terrorist organization in the world.

america was founded as an empire, and it is the biggest empire since wwII.

theres a clip in michael moore bowling for columbine or 9/11 i forget, where he briefly goes through it

the commander in chief has lost control of the military. what do you think eisenhower was talking about? tons of war profiteers feed off of the government, and they get what they want.

Son you are so far off base I don't know where to start. Let's look at empires. The Mongolian empire. The Aztec empire. The British empire. So many others throughout history. Generally a dominant group, either in numbers or technology, sometimes both, forces it's will on other groups, benefiting from taking away their wealth for it's benefit. Killing, enslaving, imprisoning those who resist. Usually collapsing in time from it's own corruption and decadence, or being stopped and defeated by it's adversaries. Granted the U.S. meddles in other countries' business, and has invaded some countries. But name the countries that we are running, with our military there forcing them to do our bidding? The closest we've come to acting like an empire was in the Phillipines in the early 1900's and Nicaragua in the late 20's. Installing puppet regimes like the Shah of Iran isn't the same thing as having your troops and your bureaucracy running everything as the Soviet Union did or the British Empire did. And Michael Moore is a socialist who tries to put everything in a bad light because he hates capitalism with a passion.

to broadly list off some places, you could start with latin america, and the middle east. you influence alot of developed countries as well. 2 obvious examples of american empire was vietnam when america crushed the democracy they were going for there, and iraq when you stole their oil. michael moore is right regardless of him being a socialist or capitalist.

yes theres a ton of empires through out history, you almost made it to your own lol stopped short at the british empire.

Begging your pardon but the U.S. defended capitalism in South Vietnam against communists in North Vietnam. We didn't crush democracy there. Nor did we steal the oil in Iraq. Heck one of our biggest headaches with ISIS is they are selling Iraqi oil to finance their operations. Again, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what an empire is. Tell me something, after beating Germany and Japan in WWII why didn't we just stay and run their countries and take their wealth? That's what Russia did in Eastern Europe. Did we run all over Europe like the Nazis, or over East Asia like the Japanese? No we didn't. We developed trade with all of these countries. The U.S. had the luxury of being the only real industrial power after WWII as everyone else rebuilt. That's why we had decades of prosperity. The world is much more competitive now and that means it's much tougher for us working folk to make a decent living. This makes the disparity between rich and poor more glaring and people like Michael Moore and Bernie Sanders find a much more receptive populace for socialist ideas. If this ultimately leads to civil unrest the wealthy in too many cases won't have no one else to blame as they hoard the wealth for themselves. But people do need to take a look at socialism in other countries and see if that's truly the answer before tearing this country apart.

Ever hear of Istanbul, Turkey? It used to be called Constantinople. It was the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire and seat of Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Muslim today. Most of southern Europe was controlled by Muslims for centuries before being driven out. The Crusades were an attempt to regain Christian lands from Muslims. There's an element in the Muslim world that believes the entire world should be Muslim and are working towards that goal. This was happening long before the U.S. came along and will never stop. But of course the America bashers think everything bad that happens in the world is completely America's fault. If ignorance is bliss they are truly happy.

when you use force and violence to defend capitalism, thats crony capitalism.

if people want a revolution and dont want capitalism, thats their business. US government has no right to invade a country to enforce corporate capitalism and low wages on people. if workers dont want capitalism, and want to control their own destiny and control their own jobs with no bosses, thats their BIZ!

yes american govt did crush democracy in vietnam (as did the french before you) and yes american government invaded iraq for the oil.

you have crony capitalism. its not run on the principle of competition. the only principle the ruling class runs by is power and profit and thats it. they only like competition when its profitable for them, and when competition aint profitable they dont like it... real simple

yea you should be taking notes from other countries, america is way behind these days.
