If he does somehow end up being with the company, can you imagine all the other BS UPS has to offer he would demand change to his liking? The road test is baby crap. If you.cant pass that, then this job isn't for you.
But they should change it, just for him ..If he does somehow end up being with the company, can you imagine all the other BS UPS has to offer he would demand change to his liking?![]()
WhateverBut they should change it, just for him ..

In the “good old days,” you would have been driving a stick...The good old days, bring them back.
Let him take a test on one of the old high steppers with no power steering
Let the crying begin
My shoulders and knees still hurt lOhh God you're bringing back nightmares for me. Best upper body work out I've gotten in my life was delivering in one of those.
Fleet needs to be automatic now, three years is too long. Its a lot of people that can not drive stick, and Ups stupid standard transmission requirement are preventing them for getting the driver job.
not yet, bit has been about two weeks. when I log in to ups jobs it states that my application is inactive, on file no action needed at this time. maybe somebody will throw in towel, or becaome disqualified, and I will take that person's place.
I never had a road test. I never had any kind of UPS schooling. I went right from part time car washer/ car spotter/ trailer loader/ receiving counter/ porter/ jack of all trades on Friday to full time driver on Tuesday (Memorial day weekend 1971). I never was sent to any training classes in Minneapolis- in fact I've never been in any of the facilities in the Twin Cities. (apparently I was just that good). My total "training" was a District Manager road with me for 2 days when I started delivering. There was a lot of "do as I say not as I do" talk. We even delivered some residential with the bulkhead door and the back door on my P-600 wide open because it was really hot out
Stick shifts go much better in the snow. Plus those old trucks are heavier and that helps in the snow.
The newer trucks are too long and skinny and have a crappy turning radius.
oh, no its for me, just wait for that second road test, I will pass.
Maybe inside loading is the place to start if OP really wants a career at UPSIf you get another chance. You won’t unless you are from the inside.
I hate the new trucksJust hammer the throttle when turning hard and it turns better.
You did have it tough back then.
I could tell stories all day long about how tough we had it but I'm saving the majority of them for when it's proved Dave is back. He really likes to hear my stories.
