My religious practices are my business. You on the other hand have told us that what we hold as sacred doesn't amount to anything important. And you made the statement that people since the time of Christ have shared Jesus without the Bible even being involved. And the reason you did is because you were critical of the Southern Baptists disfellowshipping a congregation because they have a woman pastor. When quoted scripture concerning their beliefs about women participating you dismissed it as tradition and not what God wants in your view. So ultimately you decide what God wants for you to do in this life and if that jibes with scripture great but if not then the scripture is wrong, the traditions of men. So you're setting yourself up as all wise, all knowing because God speaks to you but didn't speak to the authors of scripture even though they were the chosen apostles of Christ. How could they possibly be right if you disagree with them? A very narcissistic viewpoint.
Yikes.

In the New Testament we have the teachings of Christ.
Some of His teachings are expressed, however he did so much more than was written.
OK to ignore them because they were collected by men and assembled into books we can read?
I don’t ignore, I just don’t hold religious tradition as equivalent to God, and I definitely don’t place written religious tradition as higher than God.

I believe the Holy Spirit is not bound by religious writings of any kind.
Please remember this from Matthew 7:21 said by Jesus:

"Not everyone who saith unto me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Noted.
It's a curious thing to me that you enjoy reading the New Testament but reject the idea you must follow what is contained therein.
It’s a curious thing to me that this is a curious thing to you.

I respect your decision and your right to not answer the questions I posed.

I didn’t think you would.
You on the other hand have told us that what we hold as sacred doesn't amount to anything important.
Where did I tell you this?
And you made the statement that people since the time of Christ have shared Jesus without the Bible even being involved.
I do believe oral tradition has been in play since then.
And the reason you did is because you were critical of the Southern Baptists disfellowshipping a congregation because they have a woman pastor.
I don’t believe I was critical, I simply disagreed with the decision.
When quoted scripture concerning their beliefs about women participating you dismissed it as tradition and not what God wants in your view.
I don’t believe I did this. I think you are mistaken.
So ultimately you decide what God wants for you to do in this life and if that jibes with scripture great but if not then the scripture is wrong, the traditions of men.
I believe you have misunderstood.
So you're setting yourself up as all wise, all knowing because God speaks to you but didn't speak to the authors of scripture even though they were the chosen apostles of Christ.
Never said this.
How could they possibly be right if you disagree with them?
I agree with much of their views.
A very narcissistic viewpoint.
I am sorry you see it this way.

You never answer a straight forward question, why should he?

Am I mistaken, or is this not what this whole thread is about.
No. The thread was very simple.

The original thread was communication of a current event, in it I also gave my opinion without criticizing the decision in any way, and I also asked others for their opinion about the decision in the current event.

I believe others have steered this thread away from the original intent.

Nope, we question your opinion because it’s based on “your” feelings. You have no charter or standards. Not really a great way to run an organization.

No, you pointed out that you disagreed with the SBC's decision, and when others pointed out why they did so you said you disagreed with those scriptures, that they were written traditions of men, that God speaks directly to you and not through the Bible, that any issues can be addressed through direct communication with God and not through scripture, that since the beginning of the Church people have learned about Jesus through oral communication and without need of a Bible, and you brought up suppression and oppression of women, and male chauvinism. And when this is pointed out to you the standard reply is essentially "who, me?"

We? Who is we?

In my opinion this statement is just not true.
You have no charter or standards.
I am sorry you feel this way.

You haven’t even responded to the original post therefore in my opinion your approach to this thread lacks integrity.
