No, you pointed out that you disagreed with the SBC's decision, and when others pointed out why they did so you said you disagreed with those scriptures, that they were written traditions of men, that God speaks directly to you and not through the Bible, that any issues can be addressed through direct communication with God and not through scripture, that since the beginning of the Church people have learned about Jesus through oral communication and without need of a Bible, and you brought up suppression and oppression of women, and male chauvinism. And when this is pointed out to you the standard reply is essentially "who, me?"

No. The thread was very simple.

The original thread was communication of a current event, in it I also gave my opinion without criticizing the decision in any way, and I also asked others for their opinion about the decision in the current event.

I believe others have steered this thread away from the original intent.

I surmised that they got kicked out of the denomination because of having a female minister. Which then it's just a broader discussion of the topic.

Would you mind informing me of why you disagree with the decision? I haven't seen anything other than the female thing.

For starters, I do believe and l am of the opinion that it is perfectly acceptable for women to behave, act, and serve in institutional churches in capacities equivalent to men, including teaching, preaching, and leadership’s capacities.

I also believe that it is perfectly acceptable for those to have the opposite opinion.

My disagreement with the SBC decision comes from what I see as the spirit of the matter and not the letter of “law” or maybe a better term would be a perceived scriptural rule held by the SBC.

I think it is the disfellowshipping that is the real issue not the reasons behind it.

I just can’t see where the spirit of compassion, love, and mercy is displayed in the decision. The SBC clearly chose to throw the stone of judgement that I don’t believe Jesus would.

I just cannot wrap my mind and spirit around the idea that this decision is a decision that is in line with Jesus teaching.

Would Jesus throw this stone of judgement and disfellowship them as the SBC? I just don’t believe in my spirit that he would.

I believe this teaching is more in line with the Pharisees, maybe even more fanatical because in Jesus day when challenged to throw the stone if they were without sin they dropped their stones and left the woman with Jesus.

I do respect the SBC’s right to their decision and to the opinions that they have that are the basis of the decision.

I do believe that they believe they are doing the right thing according to their understanding of written religious traditions.

I hope that helps a little.

Yes it does. They were the Apostles of Jesus whose writings were God's inspired word. As such they were much more than you and I will ever be. We must submit to God's will and part of that is following his inspired word. Again, can you name a group anywhere who have passed down the Story of Jesus generation to generation without benefit of the written word?
