You may not have the same contract as ours, so apologies if not. We had the option of having another hourly help us with any packages or 70 lbs. Management was resistant to it, but we had that right.
These over 70's are a way of life now. Nobody is getting help.

odds are fair to excellent, they'll forbid you taking pictures. Never tell them you take pics. When you consider that "methods" crap they talk about all the time, these pictures really let you know how much BS we were fed. The line up 30 inches, pull a package and deliver, while looking at your next stop and glancing at the floor. That was before everything was on your board. That was before you had a board!! LoL!

Lol...help.

Union knows we are all alone out here.
I'm still assuming it's in your contract. I guess everyone has just thrown in the towel and are afraid to push. That's why all of you are delivering them, without help. After pushing, threats in the office, and letters - we agreed every morning I would go out to my car and point out the over 70 lbs packages. They pulled them all off my car, every morning. I didn't deliver them for years. I was the only one in my building who didn't deliver them, as far as I know. Guess what they did with those packages? They gave the packages to drivers who wouldn't say anything and just deliver them. Those drivers would normally say something like; Aahh, it's not so bad.
You and the preloader handled that package wrong.

Apparently my route is named STEAL FROM ME.

I’m an off the street hire with a Class-A license, with 10 days in towards qualifying. These 10 days had been problematic. A high-end fashion retailer averages ~100 pieces daily to their return center. Some are airs (this I’ll never understand). The airs I paid my preloader $10 daily to put in a crate. This he did do.

He also went the extra mile and lightened my load by approximately 5 pieces a day, taking the hoodies home and selling them to friends. Keep in mind these retail for $150 average.

All the while I’m looking, looking, dismantling the truck while my training sup (great guy, served in the Marines God bless him) shouts “TIME IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. I TOLD YOU PREPARE YOUR TRUCK IN THE AM DO NOT BS WITH THE OTHER DRIVERS YOU NEED TO SORT YOUR TRUCK OUT COME IN AN HOUR EARLY.”

Well that preloader got a transfer! Attica Correctional Facility for Grand Larceny. Motherf*cker you, just what I need while I’m trying to make book. Precious time wasted looking for :censored2: you stole, and LP looking at me.

So in the 10 days that you have been here your preloader was charged, arrested, arraigned, tried, found guilty and sent to Attica??

maybe you guys should ensure PT's get taken care of in the next contract

you know, instead of the usual "got mine" stuff
What about the PPH increasing every year for absolutely no reason? What efficiencies has UPS implemented for the yearly increases in PPH? Absolutely none.

Hey, I can take it, it's the new people that can't. See threads about new hires quitting etc.

Overall, the PAS has made the job easier for the preloader, especially new ones. However the new scanners (not sure if every building is doing it) are definitely a slowdown.

OMFG I almost called my preloader today and tore him a new one!!! He had the nerve to load a 4700 package behind a 4730 package!!!!!!!!!! He's lucky it was Friday and I didn't want to waste time yelling at him.

PAS in my building was literally 12 years ago.

IE out of touch dinosaurs have still increased PPH every year without anything new or improved. Why? (I don't expect a serious answer from IE or mgmt.)

True about PAS.
What is the PPH expected on your preload?
Ours is 225/hr to my knowledge, which seems lower than others I have heard. And hasn't really changed in 5 + years.

I have no idea what is expected on our preload. I'll just say I'm above 225/hour. I just know the flow is faster than in previous years. 5 years ago I could run to the bathroom during breaks in the flow, now that is an unusual occurrence. Like I said, they expect more yet nothing has changed in terms of efficiency. I would love to hear why. Shareholder expectations?

It sounds like UPS has your preload "tamed"

I would think it's like this. Corporate states 225 pph. Preload sups don't realize that number is there to schedule by and think it is what is required every day. So they push people out the door to make that number. After a year of doing this, records show they are averaging 235 pph. Even though the job hasn't actually been done, the hours aren't being used and must not be needed. New pph.

PPH doesn't rise by default, if the operating plan doesn't change then the PPH would stay stagnant

in the building i've seen it rise, its due to SSLAW's, ARB's, bullfrogs, imprinters, or some other technological improvement, which makes sense

maybe you're thinking about NDPPH which applies to drivers, which is a far more complicated story, but if you meant inside PPH then i dunno what you're talking about

also there is a huge difference between the buildings PPH and an individual work areas PPH, like for package car loaders

nothing has been done to speed up loading package cars, depending on the cube size the PPH expectations hover between a 180-230, and that hasn't changed in years

if your management tells you different, they're not following IE methods, but hey the boots on the ground know best right lol
