What is the REAL reason negotiations have stalled?

After your Upstate Ny Pension got bailed out, I thought you would be in a better mood ?

Unless you are barely vested. Or.... have to give 1/2 to your ex-wife.
Who says I'm in a bad mood? Personally, I would rather see the government take a look at the corrupt "elected leaders" rather than a bailout. Of course, you probably depend solely on the pension so you were likely ecstatic when yours got bailed out. But thank you for everything that you do!

After seeing how poorly the part timers have been treated the last 41 years in contracts I don’t believe for a second that the Union has suddenly decided that Part Time Pay is so important that the members will strike over it. It DOES make a great news story and is good for getting Public Support to swing our way in case of a strike but what are opinions of the REAL reasons negotiations broke down? What is the real reason we may go on strike?

My opinions are the company wants to make things like attendance a Cardinal sin, and wants to make the work week for the vast majority of employees Tuesday-Saturday

So you believe our General President and the Southern Region Committee is lying to you or not telling you something?

....to what end, what good would that do?

Just guessing, nothing more nothing less . Like I stated neither the union nor the company has cared at all about PT employees and I don’t think for a minute a strike is going to occur over PT employees. I’m curious as to what everyone else’s opinions are on the real reasons negotiations broke down

What we heard with someone in the room was that the company offered 20 with no raises over the life of the contract and the union said 20 with one dollar raises every year over the life of the contract. It was basically over part-time pay. IDK
My gut feeling is the company is trying to look tough by holding out for a little while knowing full well they’re going to have to come back to the table and make a better offer. They hate looking likely lost, and they hate being told what to do.

It’s all about control he has them by the balls and they know it!

I never said he was lying but but I’m saying no way in hell he’s telling the entire truth. You believe what you wish and I’ll do the same, but leopards don’t change spots . There is far more than is being said.

Well for one, politics. Can't run on removing part time poverty and then turn your back on it the first year. Personally I'm glad he's do this. We have enough division between the FTers and PTers. Selling them out again would only widen it more. With social media the younger pters are getting more accessible and to ignore that would probably be political suicide at some point.

I haven't heard anything about attendance but I do know in my area the company was trying to add "other serious offenses" to our cardinal infractions.

Depending on your supp language the company can already move the vast majority to T-S. 22.4s are gone so now the RPCD language I would assume is as well. I don't know of any language that says routes must be bid M-friend. I do know some areas have a date that FT drivers can not be forced to a Sat schedule but I think that's still pretty low. Like 2008 or something.

All routes gonna have to be rebid either as
M-friend or tue-Saturday

As somebody who pulled himself up by his boot straps and worked with a 104 degree fever during Covid, I think attendance should be more than a cardinal sin—it should invoke capital punishment.

A couple part timers get publicly executed during break and all of a sudden no more attendance issues.

Do you get paid extra to work with a 104 fever
Sound like more of an idiot

Kind of think the same thing and I think a lot of people are gonna be pissed
The ole boy that’s been on his route for 28 years just trying to coast to the finish line
Now has to decide does he want to keep his gravy route that’s been made into a tue-Saturday or bid a new mon-Fri
Glad it’s not me

You are onboard with that.... right ? No

I’m onboard to an extent. He seems to be saying it is my way or the highway.

Yes, make them respect us, get us raises, including part timers, but have a little leeway.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe he has some give and take, but it sure seems like he is saying give me what I want or else.
