The company's decision to disable the "edit" feature on the DIAD was idiotic. It is comparable to clipping the eraser off of a pencil to eliminate spelling errors.

Excellent analogy! I too have voided out and re-sheeted savers after hitting the wrong button on a residential stop. Our sups have told us to do it.

I think most of the posters that start a thread about being discharged conveniently leave out some of the details. This wouldn't even be an issue in our center. Fixing a delivery to make it correct should not be an issue. Now if you deliver a saver to a business late and sheet it as a resi, different story.

How about are neat and professional package cars that now only get washed once a week because of cutbacks.

It is embarrassing to our company when you see wash me written on one of our package cars.

Jim Casey would be very upset.

We will look to wash our package cars less for cost reasons and also for environmental reasons. But if you have a car that is so dusty you can write on it then it should be washed.

Looks like we're still waiting for hollywood to return and give us some answers though it looks like we were able to keep ourselves entertained.:happy-very:

LOL Tie, if this is a criteria for getting trucks washed then you would truly be dissappointed in our trucks. Some of them will require a hammer and chisel when wash time comes around. Sometime after the last frost next spring. :happy-very:

I have always asked why PAS can't indicate if an address was a business. It would seem to be a valuable tool for a coverage driver to know what is a resi and what is business.

Give me a break a person can't figure out what is a business and what is a Resi.

I dont even bother doing that. I just let the delivery show as late, and when I am questioned about it I tell them...."I would have edited the stop, but you geniuses decided that I shouldnt be able to do that anymore. Sorry." Its a data-entry error, nothing more. If they dont want me to correct it, I wont.

No, not all the time. I have businesses is my 7000 and 8000 shelves all the time. Some people still have stops left after their pickups which end after 5:00. As a cover driver, many times the package doesn't have a business name for a business or it has a business name on a package for a house.

Not everyone gets all their deliveries done before 5:00.

I for one take my lunch everyday at around noon, so I always have deliveries after 5:00.

I'm not talking when a driver is at the location to decide between a business and a resi. I'm talking if a driver has to break trace, especially now during peak to make service before 5:00.

the best thing 2 do is when this happens call right away and ask them what they want u to do.

I disagree. Voiding the first package and typing "entry error" or something to that effect in the remarks column and re-scanning and completing the delivery should be just fine. Terminating a driver over a data entry error is simply stupid unless there is more to the story.

That's what we do here now, although we're supposed to call and let them know as soon the air shows late. The OMS just goes in and edits it.

I agree, and that's how we used to do it. Doing it that way now will get you progressive discipline.

Bingo. If anything out of the ordinary comes up, I call and ask for instructions. I advise all the younger drivers in the center to do the same thing. The worst thing you can do around here is make your own decision.

IF a business is in the 7000 or 8000 section it should always be open past 5:00 (ie gas station, covenience store, etc) if not then management needs to fix the trace so those businesses are earlier. If they don't then that whouldn't be a covers drivers fault for missing it. You shouldn't have to break trace to make service.

Many years ago I attended a 407 union mtg and a union rep pulled out a gun to let us say re-enforce his point of view on a subject. I can't remember what the topic was about anymore but, that convinced me that it would be the last mtg I would attend. Looks like the attitude hasn't changed.
