Re: Obamabastic !!

[h=2]Dixmoor, Illinois, has a government spending problem.
After years of taxing its inhabitants into leaving, resulting in a loss of $600,000 in tax revenue last year, the city has run out of cash to pay for the gas for the town’s police cars.
“It’s horrible,” reported Dixmoor Fire Department Chief Thomas Wendt. “My staff had payments bounce today because they didn’t get their checks.” Public Works says that if there is a major snowstorm, the department doesn’t have enough money to pay for the gas to get the roads cleared. The Police Chief says he’s tapped himself personally to pay for gas for the black and whites.[/h]

Dixmoor has an unemployment rate in excess of 10 percent, sales taxes of a whopping 9.5 percent, and income taxes of 5 percent.
The plurality of households make less than $15,000 per year, and virtually all residents earn less than $100,000 per year.
That makes it difficult to adopt the Obama solution: tax the rich.
When there are no rich people left, bankruptcy becomes the only solution.

The new Obama reality show? Sounds good to me. We can always use more reality shows. He has a strong supporting cast too.

Re: Obamanation here today

Via ABC News:
Three years after the White House arranged a hero’s welcome at the State of the Union address for the Fort Hood police sergeant and her partner who stopped the deadly shooting there, Kimberly Munley says President Obama broke the promise he made to her that the victims would be well taken care of.

“Betrayed is a good word,” former Sgt. Munley told ABC News in a tearful interview to be broadcast tonight on “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline.”

“Not to the least little bit have the victims been taken care of,” she said. “In fact they’ve been neglected.”
There was no immediate comment from the White House about Munley’s allegations. [...]

Despite extensive evidence that Hasan was in communication with al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki prior to the attack, the military has denied the victims a Purple Heart and is treating the incident as “workplace violence” instead of “combat related” or terrorism.

Re: Obamabastic !!

Chicago Jesus would never tell a lie.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama did some cherry-picking Tuesday night in defense of his record on jobs and laid out a conditional path to citizenship for illegal immigrants that may be less onerous than he made it sound.

A look at some of the claims in his State of the Union speech, a glance at the Republican counterargument and how they fit with the facts:

OBAMA: “After years of grueling recession, our businesses have created over 6 million new jobs.”
THE FACTS: That’s in the ballpark, as far as it goes. But Obama starts his count not when he took office, but from the point in his first term when job losses were the highest. In doing so, he ignores the 5 million or so jobs that were lost on his watch, up to that point.

Private sector jobs have grown by 6.1 million since February 2010. But since he became president, the gain is a more modest 1.9 million.

And when losses in public sector employment are added to the mix, his overall jobs record is a gain of 1.2 million.
___
OBAMA: “We have doubled the distance our cars will go on a gallon of gas.”
THE FACTS: Not so fast.
That’s expected to happen in 12 more years.
___
OBAMA: “Already the Affordable Care Act is helping to reduce the growth of health care costs.”
THE FACTS: The jury is still out on whether Obama’s health care overhaul will reduce the growth of health care costs. It’s true that cost increases have eased, but many experts say that’s due to the sluggish economy, not to the health care law, whose main provisions are not yet fully in effect.

Dem Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee: Sequester Cuts “Will Literally Destroy Us”…
Just a tad overdramatic

Sequester was Obama’s idea, he signed it into law, but something tell me SJL won’t blame Obama.
Via The Hill:
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) urged her colleagues to reach a compromise to prevent spending cuts through sequestration, arguing that government programs are already as lean as they can be.

“We’re at the bone almost, and sequester, that is across-the-board cuts, will literally destroy us and put us in a recession,” she said on the House floor Wednesday.

She called on Republicans to meet Democrats at the negotiating table and rejected the idea that President Obama delivered a partisan State of the Union address Tuesday night.

“May I ask them to take some cotton out of their ears, because in actuality, the president extended his hands of friendship,” she said. “I don’t want to hear the fact that the president is divisive. The president is leading, and he’s led well.”

Gallup: 92% Of Pakistanis Disapprove Of America, Up 38 Points Since Obama Took Office…

So much for Obama’s outreach to the Islamic world.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — With President Barack Obama’s first term characterized by strained relations between Pakistan and the U.S., more than nine in 10 Pakistanis (92%) disapprove of U.S. leadership and 4% approve, the lowest approval rating Pakistanis have ever given.

Pakistanis’ approval of the leadership of their ostensible ally, the United States, has historically been quite low. However, perceptions began to change, albeit modestly, through much of Obama’s first term.

As recently as May 2011, 27% of Pakistanis approved of U.S. leadership, the apex of support. Noticeably, approval declined after the May 2011 killing of Osama bin Laden, carried out by the U.S. military without the assistance of the Pakistani military — an event that many Pakistanis viewed as a blatant disregard for Pakistani sovereignty.

Re: Obamabastic !!

Who's his pimp???

I’m no tax expert, but isn’t this a flagrant violation of IRS rules governing non-profit 501(c) groups?
WASHINGTON – Leaders of Organizing for Action, President Obama’s new nonprofit advocacy group, are courting his top campaign bundlers to be part of a high-dollar fundraising network that will help finance the work of the nascent organization.

During a swing through the Bay Area and Los Angeles this week, OFA Chairman Jim Messina and Executive Director Jon Carson met with members of the Obama campaign’s National Finance Committee and told them there will be a similar structure in place to support the work of the nonprofit group, which is set up as a 501(c)4 social welfare organization. They were accompanied by Rufus Gifford, who served as finance director for Obama’s reelection bid.

OFA officials declined to comment on the record, but confirmed that the group would have a finance committee similar to that of the campaign.

Bundlers will probably be asked to raised $500,000 to be part of the committee. Such top fundraisers will get perks in return. One reward that was floated as a possibility was an invitation to quarterly meetings with Obama.

Obama Hits The Links For Third Day In A Row…
For those of you keeping score at home, this is round 116 of the Obama presidency.

Via Keith Koffler:
Having received instruction from Tiger Woods’ former coach – and then from Tiger Woods – President Obama is spending the day putting their teachings into practice, golfing for the third day of his three-day vacation at The Floridian golf resort.

Today he is playing with U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk – known throughout the trade community for not having negotiated a single free trade agreement of his own during his four years in office – Obama Chicago pal Dr. Eric Whitaker, and Marvin Nicholson, the White House aide who is Obama’s most regular golf partner.

Re: Obamanomics
Obama Claims He Has Cut The Deficit By $2.5 Trillion…

Reality: Increased it by $5.19 trillion, just a tad off.
(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama claimed today that since he has been president both parties have worked together to cut the federal deficit by $2.5 trillion—despite the fact that the national debt has increased $5.19 trillion during Obama’s presidency, which more than it increased under all presidents from George Washington through Bill Clinton combined.

“Over the last few years both parties have worked together to reduce our deficits by more than $2.5 trillion,” Obama said in a speech at the White House in which he called on Congress to avoid modest automatic cuts in anticipated spending that are set to begin on March 1.

“More than two thirds of that was through some pretty tough spending cuts,” Obama said. “The rest of it was through raising taxes, tax rates, on the wealthiest one percent of Americans. And together, when you take the spending cuts and the increased tax rates on the top one percent, it puts us more than half way to the goal of $4 trillion in deficit reduction that economists say we need to stabilize our finances.”
