Amazon in Negotiations?

Heard one of those absurd rumors that sometimes end up being accurate, today. Said Amazon is negotiating the purchase of Fedex outright, and the money is getting REAL close. I laughed, and then stopped. That would be an ugly turn of events for those who want to hang around for the future.

Given the huge amounts of cash floating around out there you can't rule out anything. It is a well publicized fact that if Amazon's stock price were to hit 990 currently 937 Bezos will become the wealthiest man in the world. I don't think Bezos would want X unless he can acquire a controlling interest and can put the people he wants on the board of directors.

I'm not sure why they'd want to at this point. In the metro areas it seems like their own network is working well. Maybe it isn't financially, who knows? I don't see the benefit to them dealing with the rest of our customers. I'd sooner believe they would build out their own infrastructure and use their excess capacity for other customers.

Because they see the huge profits FedEx and UPS are making that Amazon isn't.

FWIW . X is trading at 27X earnings while AMZ is trading at 177X earnings but that is due to Bezos history of plowing everything back into the company and that is what has fueled it's explosive growth. Can it happen? Yes but I doubt that Bezos would be able to gain controlling interest at a price that would make it worthwhile. How big a stock premium do you guys think Bezos would have to offer to get enough shares to gain a controlling interest? A 30% premium would put the stock at around $ 256.

IPO coming anytime soon?:yesssmileyf:
I will not laugh at or ridicule your first post. With billions of dollars companies have stashed in off shore banks waiting to be repatriated at little or no tax it is widely recognized and a well publicized fact that much if not most of the money will be used for M&A activity. I don't think that X is presently on anyone's list of acquisition targets but a few years down the road it may very well be especially given the transportation industry's history of mergers and acquisitions.

I also heard that FedEx is going to compete with Amazon and start fulfillment houses. They say the already have the delivery infrastructure so why not sell the products? I'd say both rumors are bogus or just corporate brain farts.

The Fedex fulfillment is real. It is part of the Genco operation. There is a large demand for it. When 3rd parties sell and fulfill with Amazon, amazon takes all the sales data and starts to sell the product themselves when it is a good seller. Smaller companies want fulfillment services from a company that won't eventually undercut them.

This is true IWBF. When you order from A they just get the product from third party suppliers. These suppliers aren't in love with A. If a FX co. cuts a deal that may be an in road. Look, I know the snowflakes thing Amazon is the bomb but they are really just shisting a lot of suppliers. Some would embrace another sales-distribution point. This is way over express worker's, socialist's heads but I think you get it.

It isn't Fedex selling the products, it is them fulfilling for small-medium e-commerce companies. Your team has started selling this just recently. UPS has been doing this all along.

Amazon is putting up more fulfillment centers in my state... I may jump ship if I get a pay increase

Their uniforms is still a standard safety vest like this:

We're finally switching to isp in the next month, so they better factor in a better wage and vehicle (maybe that's why I'm in a Ford transit van for some time after peak)

Until then, I'll be rocking my purple HD shirts with the dog logo!
