18+lets say 38 YOS =56 How is that not old enough? I'm just curious, believe me I get it if you don't want to retire our #1 guy in my old feeder dept is well into his 70's. Mandatory SS, pension and works 50 hours a week.
In order to receive zero penalties in the pension I would need to be 67. I’m not Going to stay that long. At 57 I will have 38 years. At 62 I would have 42. Currently with my 401(k) and another investments I could leave at 55 Although I think 57 is the sweet spot. Giving me 30 year full-time.

I left at 56 with 33 friend/t years and got $4000 a month. Now with spousal and Teamcare it's down to $3200. I could've stayed two more years for another $300 but I'd had enough. These penalties some of you guys talk about sure do suck.

I’m really not far behind you. Some of those guys also have a lot of ex-wife problems I did not have. Probably have to take that into account.

I also have another buddy who got remarried to a younger woman in his early 50s and then had two kids and now it’s kind of stuck working because of the healthcare lol

I worked with a guy who remarried a woman 12 years younger and the hit he would take on his pension from spousal benefits is making him work much longer I think he's close to 65

I meant why stay 4 decades?
A lot of us have been here since we have been 18. And that isn;t all full time. I have guys ask me all the time when I'm retiring, I'm like "bro, I'm only 50. And of those 32 years only 23 of them are full time." Plus, I'm a sleeper driver and don't work most of the time anyway. Plus, I will probalby stay until I'm 65 so I don't have to paid for medicare..

You sound like you started around the same time I did I was also 18. we seen some pretty amazing advancements that I would’ve never guessed or possible when I first became a UPS employee.

I remember when we started scanning packages it was called Ground trac service not every package was scanned, and it was laughable in my opinion to think that we could even do that.

I remember having to type in every address in the diad board because it wasn’t loaded in there you.

I’m not afraid of technological advancement because I understand without good humans using it and running it it’s worthless.
Right?!?!? I started in package car shortly after we started using DIAD 1. I couldn't imagine doing the job when everything had to be written down. Days when my DIAD would go down I would just cut the labels off packages and scan them all when I got back to the building. Screw all that writing. lol
