I knew a driver out of Plattsburgh (retired now). He gave me a great recommendation for a place for Lasagna at our meet point in Kingston when I was still in a brown.

I know a couple more of them but he really helped me out that day. 😬

The last time I went to to Kingston was 16 or 15 years ago, The directions I had (and still have somewhere ) were referenced off seeing a bowling alley and making a turn around there .

The last time you went to Kingston, did you see a bowling alley some time after you got off the interstate?

Hey man.....I'm on your side FWIW.

That was about a year ago we looked into the capabilities of the device. I figured the term "intel" was enough for others, but in this case for you to decipher that but I assumed wrong. Maybe I should have used the phrase...."we researched the capabilities of Lytx". Sorry about that.
Sorry this has you all in a tizzy, but it’s been my experience that our members give more information up freely on their social media than would ever be reported by a device that isn’t recording video in the cab of the truck but hey if this makes you feel better to believe more power to you. It’s not going anywhere
I'm not in a tizzy...lol. I don't gaf. With what's common knowledge, I'm starting to believe you are a little naive about these things.

I have already mentioned this but you have seem to forgotten. The device I can agree "DOES NOT RECORD VIDEO" Are you going to forget this again for later??

Perhaps you are ignorant to how electronics work, if so, there's nothing wrong with that.

I've already shown you that there is a digital sensor behind the lens, so for those who aren't versed in electronics, that's a camera, doesn't mean it has to "record" to operate, "recording" is taking the data received and sending it to a storage media. The ability to "monitor" is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

When you hold your cellphone to take a pic, or a video, before you press the button for a pic, or begin recording a video...what do you see? You see the live action on your screen, people moving around, that's called "live view" and lets you compose the shot. Lytx does the same but now the device itself doesn't "record" based on the statement from Lytx. What Lytx sees is compared to stored images and alerts of distracted behavior.

Where you seem to be confused is what I agree with and what I care about.

1) I don't care. This was brought to topic over seeing a recent mention in this thread, and my friend is going into sleepers, so I was making awareness to something I believe is a breach of contract. "No inside facing cameras"

2) We have had these now for awhile, and virtually no discipline has been handed down by inside cameras. Why do you think I don't realize this?

3) If you paid millions to have this system installed in your fleet, would you remove the ability to see what the cameras see at your will if the capability was available?

Fact is, UPS will not disclose this if they could because it would be an admission of guilt, so a 3rd party is used. This is where I believe some may be naive about the capabilities....just my opinion.

So again, for the record.....again. I know the device doesn’t "record" but if you think the camera is disabled you are ignorant to how these work, otherwise you would would not hear about distracted behavior.

They aren't likely going anywhere, and again, I don't care either way.

If there is a live view which we and you won't know about, if facing an area of privacy would be an issue. Other OTR truckers likely agree to them by contract before hire so not much recourse.

Anyway, glad I amused you...lol. I was just making awareness and adding to the conversation, but for some reason you think I'm upset and unable to comprehend they aren't going anywhere.

Ok thanks

If you think I’m naïve or don’t understand, you’re naïve.
There have been numerous fatality accidents were if UPS had that kind of information or live in cab video they would’ve had to have legally given it. They couldn’t have kept it secret and we would’ve known by now. I’m not debating that the device has a camera. I’m telling you it is not active.

Well, I’m glad you’re on my side because I’m on yours. Also, that’s why I’m telling you absolute truth.

How are drivers in the office being asked about distracted behavior? With no discipline mind you. The behavior is not "visible" to mgmt at time of report, but the behavior was monitored.....how can it be monitored from an inactive camera? Why would UPS be liable to give the video....they use a 3rd party remember. Like creating a LLC for something as a workaround

Anyway, I believe you are speaking the truth, I also believe we have very likely been deceived and until someone can say the inside camera is not used for alerting for distracted behavior, I will still believe it's active whether or not any video is monitored at a 3rd party company.

I mean even the Lytx website says the inside camera is 1920x1080 and capable of real time monitoring. It's the only "eye inside" so something has to be watching for distracted behavior. Whether it's only internal AI processing or by a human if desired....it's still a "camera". IMO.

The only live video they receive is from the front facing camera. The inward facing sensor (that you correctly say has a camera) can detect motion but the camera is deactivated because that is not something UPS uses. They only have a rudimentary idea of what the motion is. You could be picking your nose or taking a drink of water. They don’t know. Just that your eyes are not fixed where they should be and your hands are not where they should be for a certain amount of time. notice you said it was “capable” of recording video. In our application, it does not record any video in the cab. it only uses the sensor that detects general motion.
