I get it.

Things might change in your area.
Yes,
Someone may have challenged the reasons that the company was implementing "the exception basis" language in your circumstance. The company has been known in my area to violate the original intent of this type of language and therefore be technically violating the contract.

Something like this can go on for quite awhile until someone challenges it.

Some management have so little respect for unionism that they frequently abuse original intent.

(7) Air drivers may, on an exception basis, be used to make service on packages which are not air packages.

Any violation of Section 1(a) (7), shall obligate the Employer to pay the Air Driver involved the difference between his/her rate of pay and the top regular package car driver wage rate existing at that building. Grievances concerning violation or abuse of this shall be referred directly to the National Air Committee.

If this is the language you are referring to.... that is talking about pick-up of non-air pkgs.

But, it's all ready been determined through the grievance procedure that delivery of ground pkgs by air drivers

in an emergency situation or in lieu of supervisors working is acceptable, with the appropriate rate of pay.

Big Union Guys.... learn about these things at the buffet.

Perhaps. Must be that's why they don't want to pay top rate when air drivers deliver ground. Keep up the good work Big UPS guy.

It has changed since the new year. Waiting to see how long it last. So far management has let routes sit instead of having an air driver run them. Also piles of oversize and bulk stops will just sit for a day or two. Emergency conditions weather.
