What would more time do?

Allow UPS to say no 3 more times?

They were not going to give you what you wanted and Hoffa knew it.

And Hoffa was not going to let you strike to try to get it.

More time may have put pressure on UPS to actually negotiate something, rather than just agree to several MOUs that were from the 2008 & 2013 supplements. They pulled 95% of the supplemental language that had been negotiated several months earlier off the table and refused to discuss it for the 2nd supplement.

File charges on what?

UPS said no to your demands, so they asked Hoffa if he'was going to vote it, or strike.

And we all know which option he took.

Now, if he imposes the contract, file away, although it will go nowhere.

Charges on failing to negotiate in a good faith manner.

How did 804 negotiate a better deal?

Better negotiators?

Maybe they were willing to compromise on certain issues to get some of what they wanted, unlike some other locals.

I don't know. I wasn't there. I, we, can only speculate.

@Mugarolla thinks that another local, other locals, asking for more time is futile.

In this case, yes.

They had 4 months. How many more months, or years, do they need?

If there was progress, I agree with you.

It's called an impasse. UPS was not going to give them what they wanted, and they were not backing off their demands.

Even if Hoffa gave them 5 more years, nothing would change. Neither side was backing down.

At the least give the (stronger) last few locals the respect they deserve and butt out.

There was no more progress in negotiations.

UPS put their cards on the table. A bluff? Possibly.

Hoffa had a choice. Vote it or strike, and we all know how that was going to turn out.

There's no respect for members in the ibt hierarchy.

I cannot disagree.

What a disgrace.

Again, I cannot disagree.

Just more time to continue to say no.

There was no give and take on either side.

Not giving them what they wanted is not failing to negotiate in good faith.

They met with 243 and refused to give them what they took off the table. This is not failing to negotiate in good faith. UPS does not have to give them anything, and Hoffa was not going to let them strike to try and get it.

Bargaining in good faith with employees' union representative (Section 8(d) & 8(a)(5)) | NLRB | Public Website

Now, if Hoffa implements the contract, you may have a case, but I doubt anything will come of it.

I was just aggravated this morning. Thx for being constructive.

My point is/was that we/I only have speculation because we werent there but we can see the one thing that's visible...

the locals' membership rose to the occasion when the bell rang.
They voted it down multiple times in great percentages when others didnt quite get it done.

I respect them for that.

Remember...

The new 22.4 jobs are going to replace any new proposed 22.3 jobs.

So 804's (extra) negotiated 22.3s are a bonus!
