Hindsight is 20/20. And what you described happened all over the world, not just here. And at the time Trump's ban was ridiculed by the media. However by the time we had a few cases in the States the virus had already blown up in China where they kept a lid on it until they couldn't hide it anymore. Too much happened to be laying it at the feet of any one individual.

The ban failed. It didn’t stop the spread of the virus. I don’t see what touting that failure gets trump fans. It was I’ll conceived. The people he needed to ban weren’t only Chinese citizens, but Americans in China, or Americans close to China or Americans overseas who could have come into contact with travelers who had been in China, etc and so on.
