Time for change

if they impose contract? Literally thousands will walk. Where did @Tony Q run off to? I was crucified here for even considering, but with the threat of the contract being imposed Teamsters on social media sound like they could be joining me. I hope we pull off the shocker and hit 2/3 so we don’t have to.

By walk, surely you don't mean strike? I mean, in theory, it would be nice if everyone had the balls to walk if the contract is imposed, but everyone knows that if the membership can't even be bothered to vote then they sure as hell won't all wildcat strike the company either. And it would literally need at least half the workforce to do anything appreciable with a wildcat strike.

Well, it looks like the vote count has been made public somewhere, but I'm not sure where. Labor Notes stated that 43% of the 212,000 eligible Teamsters voted, and more than half of UPS Freight's members voted. Although this isn't the final offer, that means that Hawfa can shove it up our asses by "interpreting" it as our final offer. The only silver lining is that he at least can't do that to UPS Freight. Everyone bend over, we're about to get the Big Brown Weenie from our very own Teamster "leader".

If TDU says it.... it must be true.
You got a real hard-on for TDU, don't you? Labor Notes is a "socialist" slanted website, but it's not TDU. They don't really have much of an incentive to lie about the vote counts...

But then, if Hawfa and the Old Guard says it, it's gospel for you, isn't it?

Oh, and please do tell how it's okay for Hawfa to "interpret" this as the "final offer", because that's the only way he can invoke the Article XII language and shove it up our asses because of a low turnout. Because any independent outside observer (*cough* NLRB *cough) can look at the circumstances surrounding this contract, the company's situation, etc. and know that there is definitely collusion afoot if this offer is "interpreted" as the final one.

They are TDU.

If they are not.... how would they know ?
Can't tell if you're serious...do a second of research by going to the home page and checking out the other topics they have posted there. Why are they talking about teacher strikes, unionizing in China, and other non-UPS topics if they're TDU? You're delusional.

11 years. It's not much, but it's more than most part-timers. And I've been on this forum before, as the TurdBurglar...hence the quote "I AM THE TURDBURGLAR REBORN!" That was in 2012. And we butted heads back then, too. And I'm a union steward now. A well-known, well-respected, and outspoken one.

Oh, and please do answer the question I directed at you up top. Tell me how an independent outside observer won't be able to easily come to the conclusion that collusion occurred during the negotiations if the contract is "interpreted" as the final offer and imposed. I think you used to be a little better of a critical thinker in 2012 but you've passed on most of my pointed questions in the 2 months I've been a member as Superteeth2478.

I don't remember you.

But, good idea on the "user" name change.

Now a Union Steward ?

Cool.

Welcome, to the world of Union representation.

The posts are still there. Now, I can understand what you're saying about how being a steward can be thankless. However, it's either the people I represent or the way I do my job as a steward, but believe me, the thankless people have been few and far in between in the 4 or so years I've been a steward. Even some drivers who dislike what I do as a steward (for instance, enforce Article 17 by filing for those drivers to be paid for the time they work off the clock) still respect me as a steward and respect my opinion, to the point that they asked ME for advice on how to vote rather than ask their own driver steward...

Plenty of part-timers randomly tell me how much they appreciate me as a steward. I actually feel loved by the members there...hated by management, though.

You need to reread Art 12.

You're on the right track, but it's not as simple as Hoffa deciding anything.

Certain things must happen that very much involve political futures of 26 International Officials.
