It is difficult in that we see new faces on the belt a week or two and sometimes never see them again. One person made the mistake discussing her peak availability to our center manager before speaking to our steward. She's not being called in anymore, which is a shame since she was actually good and grasped the concept of belt to car and proper load.

Then management has these bodies they don't know what to do with. Some people who made book, and are aware they're guaranteed 3.5, will decide to stay out with no pay. I couldn't believe it when this other new hire said it's not worth it. I tell them, I says look a lot of people fought for that 3.5 and you pay dues and just don't give a :censored2:? Blows my mind..

When we are lucky enough to get someone on the split, it's usually their first or second week working, and then the next two poor :censored2:s behind them get screwed and have to clean up the split.

There are a lot of things UPS does wrong to make our lives harder. In the past 6 months there's only been 2 people who stayed and made book and I can't even recall how many are gone. Smfh.

Caught me. I was being facetious. However I would bet that’s where he’d go, if tried and found guilty. My CO friend says it’s the one of the only facilities in NYS with room for more. Not that I live/work/post in NYS.

There are crazier assignments, One business section I load here gets an extra car and becomes 1350 pieces across 4 cars (one a little p600). I have nothing to say other than to watch your back. If you forget and start bending down to pick up heavy packages for just a few minutes it will hurt tomorrow (and forever).
Little cars are the best..I can stretch almost into the cab from the rear bumper. Piece of cake.

This was when the over 70lbs started (or was 50 lbs). Anyway, it was in the contract and we received flyers spelling out what our rights were. It was a big deal. The company was playing dumb and telling us to ask the customer to help. "Roll out whichever way. We don't have any help to send, just do the best you can." The local didn't want anything to do with it either. It wasn't until I contacted the IBT. Things took a drastic turn!! A lot of things happened along the way. I can't type that fast, or that long. But as far as I know, it's still in the contract. That right is still yours, unless that has changed?? Also, getting help from the customer "was not" one of the options. I've been out of package for a long time. Check it out and make sure you have support from the IBT or the local, before you get pushy. The IBT support is best, but if the local tells you; hell yes, let's do this! Then your in. If not, contact the IBT. I don't recall who was in office when I did this and gave me 100% support. It was either Carey or Hoffa. The support was 100%, whoever it was.

Well done preload! Loaded my truck on Saturday but still wanted to squeeze a few hundred more on Monday so loader stuck them all down the middle. When the stacking in the middle reached the ceiling I just walked back and closed my door. Took till about 2 before I even started working on the shelves. I will hand it to them for still writing numbers on the boxes even if they were not in any type of order

Why do drivers blame the preloaders who are simply doing what they are told to do? Usually under threat of progressive discipline when they would rather do the job the right way. Or they are too new to know the difference and rely on management for guidance.

As a preloader I love this thread, funny to see some of the things I've done in here. One of my drivers left me snacks in his truck on Friday and I made sure he had the best load I could give, a little kindness goes a long way.

He probably hates his job too, I know I do. Only been here for around 5 months but I know I always try a lot harder for the drivers who were friendly to me/helped me finish up their trucks. The guys that get there a little early and watch me struggle with 4 blown out trucks can keep getting bad loads all peak.
