Maybe consider trying to switch to another division of UPS. It's a large company with lots of options. Going to another position away from packages might give you a different prospective along with show you to preserve the time you've already put into the business.
In large hubs that is a viable option. In Small centers opportunities are very limited..

That's not always an option for an hourly.

We all aren't good looking like you.

It doesn't hurt to try as the salaries aren't as big a cut as you think they may be.

For example, specialist positions have hourly guarantees BUT still pay OT. You may have to look for awhile but not all require extended education.

Would never leave the union. Would walk away before doing that.

Actually the BA position would have been a significant pay cut. But again not always bout money. Their contributions are better though.. That ship has sailed anyway. Was just mentioning it as a point that i had an out and didnt take it. And yes Gum it has its own set of challenges. #mental health.
Would take the pay cut in a heartbeat if it was an option.

I’m confused.

Does it affect your pension going 22.3 ?

Nope.

Natural, u sounds like me.. been driving feeder (more like freight delivery but clse enough) for quite awhile and couldn't see myself going back to package deliveries again...if you can manage i'd probably try to stay with UPS til i was able to collect on the pension..since u are only 5-6 yrs til u can leave anyway...if part time works for u and a position is open i'd try to jump on it... but if u did decide to leave and continue to drive the rig i'd take a little time off if possible then look outside to see what's available ...in N. Calif seems like there's plenty of these type of jobs being offered so u shouldn't have a prob finding work..if that's what u want ..BOL

You can talk to your union rep about positions open in other companies. Can still stay in the pension that way, and would be a change of pace.

You said that you passed on the BA position due to the pay cut but then said that you would have no problem taking the 22.3 pay cut, which would be much more significant.
Ok... Didnt mean to confuse. Didnt pass on the BA cause of the pay cut. Had to pass on it cause it wasnt right for me and my family at the time. Maybe the position will come available again. I would be good at it.

My situation is different, but here goes. I'm making $30 + per hour, working 20-60(peak) hours per week. 7 weeks paid vacation. Could start collecting a pension today.

The job sucks. It will suck 999 out of 1000 days. I know this, I understand this.

If I quit, I have to start paying for healthcare since I'm way under 65. That alone would eat up a good portion of my pension. I'm never going to find a new job that has 7 weeks vacation right off the bat, or even fully paid healthcare. Did I mention healthcare? It costs a lot.

When you are a driver your job is over when you go home. Can't say the say thing for a BA

That's why I turned down Management jobs. My day is Long enough, not worrying about this crap when I punch out
True story. Only reward is being able to give back to the union and the members that have given us all a lot. Maybe help some members that need it.
